The issue of poor ergonomics with Sony cameras comes up quite often in reviews. Specifically, the rather awkward (and sometimes downright illogical) button and dial layout. However, I suppose one can get accustomed to just about anything over time... even a Sony camera.

You are right about the dial layout, and also the menu system which was difficult for me at first, but once learned becomes easy to use. I left Canon for Sony (I am not a professional) and have the A7RM2 and the A6000 and love using both. I can use Canon, Sigma, and numerous vintage lenses on both. And even with bigger lenses I enjoy less weight, which is why I switched. I specifically bought the A6000 in 2016 for travel through Europe with a Zeiss 16-70 f4 lens, and could carry camera with lens in my handbag. Canon is a great camera, but the lenses are what I love, which can be used on Sony. I will never leave Sony.

Hi all,
I have just downloaded Picasa 3 to my computer. Upon uploading a set of pictures, I noticed that they look washed out and the color isn't right. I have tried messing with just about everything picasa has to offer, and I can't get them to look anything like they do when viewing them in my camera. They were all shot in RAW, could it be that Picasa 3 doesn't process RAW photos? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Eric.

Hi Eric, I still use Picasa 3 on occasion, and it does not process RAW files. Picasa 3 is still available for free for others who are interested.

I have the Sony a6000 and the A7rll. For landscape lenses on your a6000, I’d suggest the Sony 18-105 f/4, and/or Sony 10-18 f/4. If you can buy both do it. If you can only buy one, get the 18-105 f/4.

Check out Capture One. I started with the free software, then upgraded to Capture One Pro10. Paid $50. Then $40 for upgrade. That's it. No subscription. I also use Topaz Studio as a standalone which is free.

If you are looking to Sony don't hesitate. I replaced my Canon with Sony A6000 to use on my Europe trip because it was smaller and lighter. I love that camera, so upgraded to Sony A7rll full frame. I will never go back to DSLR.

Hi DazedandConfused, I have a Sony A6000 and a Sony A7RII. Colors have not been an issue for me, but I would suggest using the post processing of Capture One. You have free access to Capture One Express, but you can purchase Capture One Pro for Sony for $50 as an upgrade, which is great for adjusting colors. I tried using LR/Photoshop, but went back to Capture One - like it much better. Good luck! https://www.phaseone.com/en/Products/Software/Capture-One-for-Sony/Sony-Pro.aspx

I much prefer Capture One for processing my raw files and editing. I have the Sony A6000 and Sony A7RII. I tried Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and did not like either. I use Capture One Pro 10.

Watch Tony and Chelsea Northrop and Jason Lanier's YouTube videos on the new Sony A9. I have the A6000 and the A7 rll - and I love both. I agree - Sony is so innovative and is moving to the top of the full frame cameras. Mirrorless is the future - in my opinion.

In my last post I posted a link to this, but noticed it did not bring it up correctly, so I copied and pasted the following information below. Please note that I am only suggesting that maybe Nikon sales are down because of Sony full frame cameras. Nikon is still a great camera, no doubt about it. Quoting Petapixel.com:

"Sony has just passed Nikon to become the #2 company in the United States for full-frame interchangeable lens camera sales.

Sony revealed today that its record sales and continued growth has allowed the company to leapfrog Nikon and now trail only Canon. The announcement was based on data collected by NPD Group’s Retail Tracking Service and considered dollars spend on camera gear between January and February 2017.

Sales of its interchangeable lens cameras and lenses have been particularly hot so far this year, Sony says, with double digit growth of 23% in the area of full-frame cameras.

In particular, the growth is due to the popularity of the Sony a7R II and the a7S II, two cameras that have received glowing reviews due to their sensor quality — the a7R II is currently the leader of sensor quality over at DxOMark."

I have never owned a Nikon, but many times wish I had. I'm just a passionate hobbyist, not a professional photographer, and owned a Canon with 7 lenses. Last year, I decided to buy a smaller light weight camera to travel through Europe with, so bought a Sony A6000. I loved that camera so much that I bought a Sony A7rll. What I then realized was I could still use my Canon lenses with an adapter on my Sony, which was the better option instead of Nikon lenses. So what I am thinking, is the Nikon is still a great camera, always will be, but the mirrorless cameras are becoming more popular, and sales are increasing, supposedly putting Sony full frame cameras in 2nd place above Nikon. What's interesting, is many of Nikon's cameras have Sony sensors. Just my opinion. Check out link below.

Same here, but $10 a month isn't that much. 😊

Thanks. Will I be able to first use Capture One to process my raw file to a Tiff 16 bit file and then open up Lightroom/PS to edit that picture?

Thanks so much and this advice, it is very helpful to me. I just don't want to give up using Capture One to process my RAW files. I only shoot in raw, and I don't think Lightroom would process raw files as well. But I need more than C1.....decisions??
