Hi all,
I have just downloaded Picasa 3 to my computer. Upon uploading a set of pictures, I noticed that they look washed out and the color isn't right. I have tried messing with just about everything picasa has to offer, and I can't get them to look anything like they do when viewing them in my camera. They were all shot in RAW, could it be that Picasa 3 doesn't process RAW photos? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Eric.

Hi Eric which camera and which operating system? You might want to look at "raw therapy" or "darktable" as free alternatives. Your in camera jpeg is already processed and adjusted in camera, the raw file naturally looks a bit duller and flat as none of this adjustment has been applied.

Be careful. I googled it and immediately after downloading, my antivirus reported a problem, ran a scan, and detected and deleted the download.

To emphasize a statement blackest made: What you see in the camera is a jpg. Raw files are strictly data; they can not be viewed until opened in software designed to edit them.

Newer cameras' raw files are not supported on Picasa. Google stopped doing updates several years ago. Another free editor is Fastone Image Viewer

Picasa has no tools specifically for editing raw, and even on older cameras' raw files, your results would not come close to the quality of a different software.

From a 2013 article:
Picasa's main goal is in making it as easy and fast as possible for anyone to organize, edit and share their pictures.

Specifically for RAW pictures, this is accomplished by doing a fully automatic conversion of the 12 or 16 bit RAW data to 8-bit with no input from you. This way, you don't even see a difference in how you work with them.
