Thank you, that is very helpful.
Given all settings equal, is the quality of jpegs produced by both similar in quality.
Number one, for me without hesitation
Sorry if this is a stupid question but is viewing through an electronic view finder on a mirrorless camera the same as viewing on the back screen of a digital SLR camera.
Sorry I forgot to say that I have a Nikon 610 (full frame camera)
Hi all,
I am looking to buy a 50 mm Nikon lens.
I have an opportunity to buy a used Nikon 50mm 1.4D AF lens or a used 50mm 1.8 G AFS lens, both cost the same price and both are in excellent condition ( even though the 1.4 is older).
I am more interested in the quality of the images taken rather than the speed of the lens.
I would really appreciate any feedback please.
A Nikon 610 is an affordable FX camera.
Either the 24-120mm f4 or 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 work well.
Thanks everyone, I think I will go with the 50mm 1.8 D,
Any thoughts on whether it's worth spending more on the G version?
I can't make up my mind on whether to get a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 AF-D lens for my Nikon 610 camera.
Looking at using indoors for people shots with no flash, also some outdoor street photos.
Trying to keep cost down, hence not looking at G versions ( Does anyone think otherwise?).
Sorry , the 35mm f1.8 is an FX not a DX lens.
Hi,
I can't make up my mind on what to buy.
Nikon 50mm G 1.8 @$299
Nikon 35mm G 1.8 @ $ 650 ( used )
Nikkor 23mm AF 2.8 @ $295 (Used)
All in Australian dollars.
I am looking for a light weight lens to carry around all day on my 610, for street & landscape photography, occasionally with people included.
I need it to be fast also as I like shooting the above in low light & at night, both indoors & out.
I also have a limited budget of under $1000.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Hi All,
I have so far not been shooting in Raw mode.
I understand the benefits of Raw & the ability to edit the image without loss in quality.
However at the moment I want to shoot only select photos in RAW & keep the processing simple.
I store all my images on my Mac in photos & I have shot some Raw images but I need some advice on how to import/ identify/ process / convert to JPEG using the photos app.
I don't want to spend a lot of money & if possible would like to use photos on my Mac until I become more experienced or start spending more time editing.
Any advice around this topic would be appreciated.
Hi, I'm only a beginner, so please excuse my ignorance.
I have a Mac book pro with the inbuilt "photos "
App
Can I shoot in raw, import the raw image into photos, then process the raw image using photos?
Thanks, your comments are much appreciated
