Ran short on storage in card, so only a few photos taken at yesterday's car show in a nearby town.

Although I'm pretty capable on a computer, the dash board on my 2018 RAV4 LE pretty much defeats me. They tried to get me to upgrade from their basic model, but why pay for MORE stuff that you don't understand was my reasoning. Anyway, it does have a CD drive that I've made many CDs for and that's great, however, I noticed that way under the radio, close to the console, there is a USB port and I was wondering if I put music on a thumb drive and plugged it into the USB port would the radio recognize it and play the music? Thanks...

I rented a RAV4 a number of years ago. I used a cable to plug my iPhone into the USB port in the car and was able to play my music directly from the iPhone through the radio. To me, much better than either CDs or thumb drives.

My daytime camera had 24 mm; my night 28. Sometimes I needed to make pans. Some were only two shots, others as many as five. Most are landscape, two are portrait.
I am right at the edge of my Wi-Fi reception, where I might lose the signal, so I'm not going to take the time to explain each shot. I'll try to answer specific questions if you have any, but these are in the most popular areas of Rome.

Nice work! I was in Rome in 2022, and I wish my photos looked as good as yours!

Some quick hit-and-run shots taken by me today of landmark Sydney, Australia. Later this week I'll be getting a tour of the Opera House and attending a show. But for now, this is a taste.

I did the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb when I was there in 2002. That's still a highlight for me!

Since my flower selection is limited, I have been experimenting with flowers from my local grocery store. I was pleased when I saw that they had some outside, but like my flowers, the wind kicked up as soon as I started to photograph them! So into the store, I went!

Something a bit different for me. They are FAR from perfect yet, but as always it's part of my learning process!

Don't know if you've ever made it to Seattle or not, but Pike Place Market is a really great place to see lots of colorful flowers. Also, if ever in Amsterdam, same thing.

I have a Canon 5D Mark ii with the 24-105L lens and wonder if it makes sense to get a 2X extender for my trip to Spain. I also have an older Canon 75-300 lens but don't want to carry both. Concerned about quality with the extender and also whether a good one exists that fits my camera. (Thanks, Canon...) Also considered a used Canon 55-200, but Rockwell said that my camera couldn't handle the color problems.
Appreciate your help and snark,
Bill from Somerville MA (long time lurker)

I use the Tamron 18-400 on my D7100 when I take trips like this, and invariably I find that most of my shots are taken on the wide-angle end of the range. But several times lately I find I leave that gear behind and take my iPhone instead.

On Thursday evening, I found a very nice copy of a Citizen Navihawk Blue Angels watch. It was a matter of using "Buy It Now" to complete. The seller got the watch to the PO in Warren, MI on Friday AM. I live about twelve miles from there, so I figured I'd have my watch by Saturday.

Wrong guess, Bucko!!!

I entered the tracking number on Saturday, and my watch had been shipped to Cincinnati, OH, and was sitting at their main PO, not being return-shipped, until Sunday night. It did get to the Detroit PO by early Monday AM, and the Dearborn PO delivered my watch today, at @ 5PM.

Talk about the long way around Robin Hood's barn!!!

The USPS consolidated all their sorting facilities into regional facilities quite some time ago, so it's very unusual to get anything quickly from USPS in my experience. On the other hand, years ago I worked with a guy who had a difficult time getting his bills paid on time. We were in Atlanta, and stopped by a USPS facility late in the day so my friend could send his payment overnight. The postal clerk got a funny look on his face and informed my friend that the P.O. Box on the address line was in that very Post Office, so not overnight delivery required!

Last night I dragged out an old DVD, a movie that actually got me interested in photography.
After the watch, I actually started thing about looking on ebay for a Beseler enlarger. Then the
wife slapped me upside the head. Dream popped.
The movie was Carlo Ponti's "Blowup" with
David Hemmings as the young creative
successful inspiring photographer. Forgot how
great this movie was. You can stream it free on TUBI.

My wife and I saw that with another couple about the time we got married, 56 years ago!

I apologize for these two shots. They're not up to my standards. The sun was just peeking over the horizon, I hadn't set the camera to deal with the background stuff, and the activities of the preceding night hadn't turn me loose yet.
I'm going to show these shots anyway because you will never see anything like this again.

And for those of you of a certain advanced age, "three coins in a fountain" might mean something.
The real feel temp as I was shooting out of my rented apartment window was 36°. It might be helpful to keep that in mind as you check the images.
Dawn had come only a few minutes before I started shooting. The sun had barely begun to shed light on the ediface.
Image number two we are pretty sure was a model in a wedding dress because of the many repetitions she went through.
Image number four shows the technique used to toss a coin backwards into the fountain. Apparently very little skill is involved.
The lady in the flower dress kept looking at the shots, apparently very difficult to satisfy.
The lady in the striped jersey must've been important, because she had a police escort…or maybe just fans.
The last image is to give a frame of reference. We returned to our apartment after lunch in the middle of the afternoon, and could once again barely get through the crowds.

That’s because there is only one copy of any given photo, regardless of how many folders it’s in.

The Crawford Auto Museum in Cleveland is holding a Ferrari show featuring 14 vintage Ferraris ranging from 1967 to 2005. While going through the show, I expected to see the common Ferrari logos seen on their race and street cars. I was amused by how many different shapes the logos are on these different cars. All Ferraris have the prancing horse as their logo except one. Enzo Ferrari had a son, Alfredino, that began helping with the business from an early age. By 1956, he was in charge of the new small V6 engine. Sadly he fell ill and died the following year. The engine was first used in Fiat automobiles and it wasn't until 10 years later that it was first used in a Ferrari. To honor the memory of his son, that first Ferrari was known as a Dino and it bore a Dino logo.

In WWI, an Italian air ace had a pattern of a prancing horse on his airplane to identify himself and intimidate his adversaries. Enzo Ferrari was an admirer of his and in the 1930's asked him for permission to use it as a car logo. He had it modified and placed on a yellow field (his home town of Modena's color) and the rest is history.

Sadly, after seeing all of these Ferraris with their prancing horse logos, I was not able to ride in a single one of them. But all was not lost because I got to ride a prancing horse of a different sort. The museum has a 115 year old amusement park carousel fully restored open to the public for free. I took several rides and my steed is the last prancing horse.

A number of years ago, the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance featured Ferrari as their featured marque. I saw more street-driven Ferraris there than i’d seen collectively prior to that.
