Last night I dragged out an old DVD, a movie that actually got me interested in photography.
After the watch, I actually started thing about looking on ebay for a Beseler enlarger. Then the
wife slapped me upside the head. Dream popped.
The movie was Carlo Ponti's "Blowup" with
David Hemmings as the young creative
successful inspiring photographer. Forgot how
great this movie was. You can stream it free on TUBI.

Produced by Carlo Point but directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. The photographer character was influenced by the life of swinging London photographer David Bailey. One highlight was a performance by the Yardbirds including both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck.

Soxfan941!

Thanks for the tip! I remember seeing that film in the theatre. I bet a lot of purple backdrop paper was sold!

Be well! Ed

Also the soundtrack by Herbie Hancock. Interesting that the cinematographer on that was Carlo di Palma and the 1981 movie “Blow Out” from Brian de Palma, (no relation), was inspired by it. In that movie it’s a sound man that believes he’s recorded an assassination.

Never heard of any about a sound man recording an assassination. Ironically, I believe the dead man in the1966 version, was the man with Vanessa Redgrave in the park. I replayed the park segment twice but never heard a gunshot.

My wife and I saw that with another couple about the time we got married, 56 years ago!

Ah, yes. I saw that at the local Drive-In.

There's a more recent movie that uses the same idea, but I can't remember the title.
