So, looking for recommendations. Something with the same kind of Spec's and features. TTL, Hot-shoe & remote. Auto zoom, and a few others compared to or better than the Bower.

Did a quick check on E-bay, was kinda liking a Yongnoe (no specific model) flash and the price was really under $100 which is my max budget.[/quote]

Well it's true you can shoot thousands of pic's on a digital camera. A film camera back in 1965 the non pro model cost around $79.00 to $149.00 and pro camera cost around $400.00 And film was .99 cents to 3.99 a roll, and development was as much as $5.99 a roll . To day the cost is for a decent non pro is $800.00 and up and a pro level cameras is $3500.00 or more for a DSLR So I think the cost is pretty high per photo.

When I was shooting weddings (900+) all on film and the most I shot was 200 with a Hassy. Today a wedding photographer shoots about 7000 per wedding. Why so many? because they can. No understanding of how or why they took a photo, posing is debatable, ect. The cameras of today make it easy to take proper exposed photos without any knowledge of how or what settings etc. Just put the dial on green/auto and just shoot away. Just hang out a shingle and you are a wedding photographer. That said, there are some very excellent photographers out there, but they are the ones with the knowledge and understanding of basic photography and have perfected their craft. But most are hackers and not worth the money they charge.

Sorry for the rant, and to that end , I Apologize

I would choose the one that I felt most comfortable with. Brand should mean absolutely nothing.

It all depends on what type of portrait you are doing. Studio or outdoors. Depth of field in a studio is not of concern, but outdoors it all depends on what effect you are looking for and you would set your aperture accordingly. In my studio I always et my exposure for f8 or f11 and focus was on the eye. Outdoors you have many different types of lighting to consider along with different backgrounds . Outdoors will you be shooting full length,3/4 or head and shoulders, one person or more. If you are seeking a single answer, there are none. MY suggestion is to experiment. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Seaside7, I hate to be a pain. So let me make sure I have this correct. The lens is a 24-70 2.8G. As you said it has only been used once. The price is $1,099.. Does this lens have lens caps and sun shield? And if possible can you send a picture of this lens?

Sorry for all the questions.
Dave
