And don't have a lot of money.

A bower model SFD926c was given to me as a gift from Mom, which she purchased from QVC and only had a 30 day return.
that was back in Feb. https://www.amazon.com/Bower-SFD926C-Autofocus-Dedicated-Digital/dp/B001O81HYK
Was using the flash and it "Just stopped" a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was the Battery's. changed them out (2 separate sets). The red ready light goes on but no flash. Tried all kind of settings, no luck... dead.

So, looking for recommendations. Something with the same kind of Spec's and features. TTL, Hot-shoe & remote. Auto zoom, and a few others compared to or better than the Bower.

Did a quick check on E-bay, was kinda liking a Yongnoe (no specific model) flash and the price was really under $100 which is my max budget.

Not sure on the specs you need but I had similar life out of a highly rated store brand, 3 uses and it died in the middle of a wedding, was not getting paid for wedding luckily, bought a Sigma and been happy since, now I don't use flash a lot but when I do I want it to work, my son just got a less expensive brand , looks similar seem to have more features, now he tells me it eats batteries faster than my Sigma that he used to borrow, just my .02 worth, Bob.

Yongnuo makes really good flash units. I have several Canon knock offs and they have served me well for several years. I definitely recommend YONGNUO.

Your mom got caught up in TV commercials. I have ordered from QVC and HSN. And have not been impressed with all of their products. Get a Yongnuo from B&H, and you'll find it to be a good product. And inexpensive.

I have 4 Yongnuo flashes and love 3 of them. I also use a Yongnuo radio transmitter to control the 560s. I have had no troubles with them at all, however they do not have ETTL. The 4th is the 565 which does have ETTL, but is not controlled by the transmitter. I have heard that the 600 may have all of the things you want, but it is getting pricy. My whole lighting kit: 3 560s and one 565 and radio transmitter cost less than $300.

Yongnuo has an upcoming new release flash unit for Pentax cameras. Current price is $80.

I agree, they do function well, but need to be handled carefully, the build quality lacks quite significantly compared to their counterparts! Just a couple of days ago, while using one of the 600 EX-RT's, the battery-compartment door quit, and it will not shut anymore. I will still use it for a little while with some guffer, before throwing it in the trash!

The Amazon ratings aren't good. Consider Yongnuo, Nissen, and Godox. You're better off getting no flash than one that will disappoint you.

Hi, I've just bought a Neewer VK75011 from Amazon and I love it. Its TTL, it zooms and works as a slave. I used it for the first time to shoot a friends wedding ( strictly amateur! ) and it did a great job. Well worth having a look at.

I'd recommend the Yongnuo 685. Has everything you need, allows you to grow into it, and runs right at $90-100 on eBay. I have 4 that have served me well for several years. Tough and reliable (at least from my experience). Built in radio transmitters allow you to use a controller for off-camera work which for me is really important. ETTL works great, but if you move off-camera, the controller is a breeze to use for manual control. I went the route of starting with lesser models to save money (like the 560's) which are great, but much more limited. My advice is to spend just a bit more and start with the 685's. Hope that helps.

I recently ordered a Yongnuo 600, I'll have to keep an eye on the battery compartment.

The battery door is definitely the weakest part of these units, but is easily replaced. They're less than $5 including shipping on Ebay. I don't think they're any more problematic than the Cannon doors. I work my flashes pretty hard and have had only one battery door break in the past 10 years (and even that was only lose, not fully broken).
