I know there will be much praise for this photo, but for me the lighting is very harsh and there is strong halo effects on the edges of the buildings. Over sharpened in post processing perhaps.

Stumpy is a Snowy Egret. Cattle Egrets follow cows in the field eating insects the cows stir up. Hopefully Stumpy is finding enough food. He uses those big yellow feet in shallow water to stir up food.

Weather in Colorado in September can range from the 90s to snow. I have seen snow in Denver during this month many times. The higher you go into the mountains will increase the probability of snow. However, September and October are my favorite months of the year for the weather is, generally speaking, pleasant. Warm days and cool nights. I assume you will be spending time in the mountains. In that case bring shorts and a warm jacket, and the clothing associated with those two items. The air is dry and the nights do not contain the warmth that builds up during the day.

I lived in Colorado for 62 years, but I no longer do, at least for now. I miss the mountains more than anything else so seeing your photos kind of brings me home. Keep them coming.

They are called 13-lined Ground Squirrel or "Federation Ground Squirrel". They burrow underground and hibernate during the winter.

My intent, when visiting Utah a couple of years back, was to get a shot of Mesa Arch in Canyonlands NP at sunrise with the sun peeking through. An iconic shot I have seen so may times from many different photographers. Instead I got this shot of a very frustrated photographer who had the same idea as mine but was thwarted by an overcast, foggy morning. I had only one day to visit Canyonlands and Arches NP also so I did not stay long at any one location. The clouds didn't clear until later that afternoon. Sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to. Maybe next time.

I'm a veteran. I severed my country in the late 60's including a tour in Vietnam. I am always grateful when someone thanks me for my service but, I think most people lose sight of what this day really means. It is a day for remembrance of those who gave their lives in the service of this country. I feel a little embarrassed when someone thanks me for my service on this day, especially when I think of all of those people have lost lost a family member or a loved one in defense of this country and I was fortunate enough to have not lost my life. There is a holiday when we can all celebrate the contributions of our veterans. It is called Veterans Day.

I quit DirecTV about 6 months ago. I was paying $135 a month to watch mostly commercials. Went with a outdoor digital antenna. I pull in 50+ stations(about half of them unwatchable) but it's free. I stream Netflix and Amazon Prime. Much happier.

If I had to chose, I'd go with the 35mm Fuji lens (slightly more than 50mm field of view), but if I were you, I'd look very hard at the lower cost of the Fuji X-Pro2 body instead of the X-T2. And if your budget allows, I would add the excellent 56mm f/1.2 lens (not the APO version) (84mm field of view) for its speed and incredible sharpness. /Ralph

Actually, the X-Pro2 is $100 higher than the X-T2. Take a look at the X-T20. It has many of the features of the X-T2 at a much much lower price. I have an X-T1 and it is a fine camera. A new one is $799 now, leaving you with lots of money to purchase more of the great Fuji XF lenses.

This is an American Magpie. The name change from Black-Billed Magpie occurred several years ago. They are found in the Western US. There is another species of Magpie found in central California called the Yellow-Billed Magpie.
