Hi my name is Julian Gang and I have a Sony DSC-HX400v, my question is does anyone else have one of these cameras. I'm fully satisfied I would just like to hear some other feedback. This seems like it is a very nice site for any kind of photographer and I am very glad to be a member!...Julian

That is a boldface lie.

The only person bullying anyone in the Street Photography is the moderator. Here is a typical statement from an hour earler:

"Insisting on obtuse word meanings, repeating the same justifications based on false statements about other images, and continuing to intentionally post inapropriate images is the very definition of trying to bully other members of this section. That is all the more true when you are also posting absolutely false and dishonest statememts about this section in other sections.

You claimed to have been banned here. One further provovation might lead to exactly that."

Apaflo's excuse in this instance is that jaymatt posted an image of a performer and disagreed with his objection that it was not street because it did not meet his current definition. Now he is bullying jaymatt and threatening him with banning. the moderator is the one "posting absolutely false and dishonest statements about [his] section in other sections."

How does he you deal with members who disagree with his current and fluid definition of street photography? He bullies them.

He has banned many members from his section, including me, using the fabricated accusation that he was the object of bullying. Lots of others who have not been outright banned are avoiding his section voluntarily because of his bullying.

The irony is that he himself created the thread Street Photography as only possible in Cuba in which he praised a series of posed ballet performers in the streets of Cuba and called that street photography. Are images of performers qualified to be street photography only in Cuba? Posed?

So he is not only a liar and a bully, he are also a hypocrite. He is a joke, a laughingstock. What I am saying is not bullying. It's the truth.

Not sure to classify this as "people" or "street", but I'll go with street. This is becoming my favorite type of photography. This got me an honorable mention at a juried show at a local art gallery. It was the first juried show I ever entered. (Other than the county fair!)

I don't post many of my photos so CC welcome.

Like the composition and contrast. Good to finally see some worthwhile captures in this section.

I am entering several prints for competing in a contest. My problem is the rules state the photos must be matted in plain white mats and the photos securely glued so that over the week or more that they are on display the photos don't slip down in the mat or fall completely out of the mat. I just used a spray adhesive that was photo safe and followed the directions and they seemed ok until 2 days later when the glue is letting loose and I can now open the mats. The spray glue didn't hold up. Any suggestions?
I had sprayed the back of the photo and both the exposed mat and the backer board and then pressed together after waiting a minute as directed.
How do you glue the photos and mats?

I have been using dry-mount tissue since 1964 and never had any problems with it. It works best with a press but I have used a warm iron and a white muslin cloth in a pinch when not having a press handy. The process is clean, easy and CHEAP. Just do not use too much heat. I highly recommend it. Most any camera shop should have it in stock. Good luck...

A few recent posts have made me think about the quality of help available to photography novices. In one post, staff at what is said to be a "local camera store" told someone that their SD card may have been damaged magnetically.

Obviously not true.

I would expect this from a clerk at WM or even BB, but not at a dedicated camera store.

Are the Big Boxes making it more difficult for local camera stores to find/afford quality staff?

I am in Philadelphia and (since the closing of Calumet) have to go outside the city to get to a good reliable store with knowledgeable staff.

How are local stores in your area?

I live 60 miles from my local store. That is Schillers in St. Louis, MO. Extremely knowledgeable staff, great service, honest and reputable. Highly recommend them to anyone.

So much for your opinion mr. section manager. I will put it in my files with all the rest of the MBE on this site. Did not realize the word "drivel" was such a harsh word. I was not insulting nor derogatory to anyone, only the general flow of this section!

As was stated in my original post, resolution was an issue. These images are 300ppi. One of them was taken with a UV filter, one without. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to determine without a doubt, which one was photographed with and which photographed without a UV filter.

I would say #1 has the uv filter. On my monitor #1 has much more saturation of color. Eiither way there is quite a bit of difference evident.

I had an aunt in later years that consumed garlic capsules like kids eat gummy bears. She always told everyone that her farts couldn't be heard. Well, maybe not but the air for 30 feet around her definitely had a aura about it.

Having grown up in the country with a few of these grain facilities around I would say Hibler is smack on the money. There is one still standing about 7 miles from where I live. Hasn't been more than 30 years ago that it was still in use.

Steam engines at the car show last weekend. We have some interesting shows in Oregon throughout the state. In addition to many custom and rod car shows, there are steam engine collectors. The biggest steam engine show I know of occurs in Junction City, near Eugene Oregon. Central Oregon is farm country and the largest produce farmed for decades was Potatoes.

Steam engines did the heavy work and many collect them and restore them. Here are a few. It's interesting to walk around these antiques and listen to the "chuffing" sounds and the "popoff" valves going off at regular intervals.

Most of these engines were running as I photographed them. This was about 30% of the steam engines in the show, then the tractors and a tractor pull. Show cars... 162 registered. Prineville Oregon (Central part of the state)

The annual "Dufur Threshing Bee" is home to a number of farm harvesting equipment... horse and steam driven. Near the Columbia Gorge.

These little guys are actually gas powered hot or miss engines. My friend just sold his collection of 20+ of them and used the money to buy a new Ford F150 4x4.

Yup, you did it again as always. After following your work for the past few years I bought a Big Tammy for my wife for Christmas. Due to weather and employment she hasn't had much time to play with it. Anyway, great work as always.
