Yes , family photos or snapshots re the best regardless of the photo technique. My Grandfather was an early hobbiyist in the late 20's. He had his cContax 35 mm camera going all the time from my birth in '29 to his deathe in 1941 and yes I'm about to be 90. I've been taking photos since he gave me a box brownie. I used to sit at his desk with him as he marked his contact prints to be sent to NY for enlargement. He was into movies, too. One of my greatest tragedies is a fire that estroyed just about all these priceless family mementos.

So take pictures of all kinds, family, vacation, as well as "artsy" types. They are all valuable.

Welcome. The usual retail recommendations are B&H and Adorama both in NY City and both good. However, Unique Photo in New Jersey is also a very good place with whom to do business. I've bought and traded there on several occasions - also no NY tax. From a camera standpoint I've brcome mostly a Sony person. The A6000 is around 5-600.00, light and easy to hndle Its a good introduction to the more expensive and complicated modeld.

My new 7III is refusing to take a Sony Sandisk 64 gig card in slot one. It does take it in slot 2. Is this a design problem or a specific problem with my camera? The card can be forematted in slot 2 and in my A6500 but not in slot one of the 7III.I have not istalled Version 2. Could that be the proble? I would like to have 2 64s installed but right now its a 32 in slot one, 64 in slot 2.

Again, thanks for all the responses. I don't intend to use APSC lenses as a general rule on my full frame camera - just maybe occasional use of the 16-50 "kit". I was also lucky to find a local Long Island camers store who had the Tamron lens that's so difficult to find and it is as great as the reviews claim.

Thanks or the responses. And yes the E-mount lenses used on the 6500 and others are the same fit as the FE lenses designed for full frame. I kn0w that the use of crop lenses does not utilize the full frame of the larger series of cameras. I just wanted to see if there were any other reasons to be careful. Again thanks for responding.

I have a Sony 6500, APSC camera. I'm fond of the "kit" lens, 16-50, for its size and "snapshot" ability. I have just recently acquired the full frame SonyA7III. So I assume if I use this lens on the Full Frame camera I've turned it into an ASPC camera. Does this cause any other problems?

I have a Sony A7III and ran into a different but similar problem. The camera would not turn on. I had to remove the battery and pu it back in -then the casmera functioned normally. My son. a Canon user, replaced the lens and all worked properly. The lens I had on was a E mount but for APSC. Putting on the proper E Mount or FE lens on has "solved" the problem. Weird!

Thank you for your reply - the only one I received, by the way. I never intended to exchange my 6500 for the A7R just thinking about adding a full frasme to my arsenal. Surprised that the E-mounts would work on the A7R without an adapter. Again, thanks. I think I'll just continue with what I've got.

I have a Sony A6500 and I like it a lot BUT I;m having something of a GAS attack. The Sony A7R used is available
my question sare:
1. Will I notiice a difference in quality between the 6500 crop sensor and the A7R Full frame?
2. My E mount lenses will work on the FE mount camera with an adapter, does this compromise the Full Frame advantage?

Backround:
1. I'm 89 years old and have been taking pctyres sibce I was 5 or so. Cameras over the years include Kodak box, Argus C-3, C-4, Rolliecord. Rolaflex, Kodak Retina,Konica, Minolta - I've probably missed some.

My picture interests are family, travel locations, NY Mets, US Open tennis, photo club contests.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much to all. I've found the best tip is th 1/60 second shutter which seems to eliminate all those irritsting lines. You can't stop action too well but you can't win them all.

Again thsanks to the Hedgehogs for all the good tips which I will try and use.

I have a long history of attending the US Open Tennis. My book cases are filled with annual albums. However this year overall health (I'm 89 years old) and a minor operstion (hernia) coming up this week I've been unale to attend. So I thought I'd keep the annual album tradition going by taling photos of the TV coverage. I've done so but with problems of lighting, lines in the photos, etc. I've tried all the PASM settings but my hit rate is seemingly more accidental than on target. So does anyone have experience with this and can offer some assistance tips?

I had the RX 1 but when the 3 came out quickly adopted it mainly for the built-in pop-up view finder. I have no interest in movies so 4k etc. in the later models is meaningless to me as well as the cost.

I would like to add to the "good" list. Unique in New Jersey. Aside from being reputal in my dealings with them there also free of NY tax.

.I'm happy with my RX100 111. I like the wider lens and don' need the extra zoom. I don't do movies so 4K is meaningless to me. The 111 is just what I want and need in a pocketable camera.
