I was looking at the new Sony RX100 and was wondering if it is worth all that money

Having watched lots of YouTube videos and reviews, I’ve just ordered one from Amazin UK. The positives far outweigh the negatives for me and I’m downsizing from a Nikon D850. Looking forward to it. I think it’s very expensive but you get what you pay for.

That is up to you, not me. The Sony RX100 VI has a longer zoom then it's Predecessor.
I own the RX100 II and still print beautiful 20X30 prints from it. It goes on all my trips along with the Sony HX50V.
And, in the end, it all comes down to you making the decision on "is it worth it".
Read the reviews, see what folks are saying (not much at this point cause it's new) and go from their.
Order it from B&H, when you get it, shoot the piss out of it, if you don't like it in 10 days, send it back. Your choice, not mine.

.I'm happy with my RX100 111. I like the wider lens and don' need the extra zoom. I don't do movies so 4K is meaningless to me. The 111 is just what I want and need in a pocketable camera.

I'm also looking at a camera in the RX100 series. My understanding is that the major difference between newest (VI) and the earlier versions is that the new model has a longer zoom range - but slower maximum aperture.

I would look to professional sites that have the means to evaluate and grade the worthiness of cameras and related equipment.

Just changed my mind! It’s Amazon Prime Day and they are offering the Mark 4 at £499. Sony have a Cashback offer on this camera of £100. This makes it a no-brainer for me so I’ve cancelled my order for the Mark 6.

It's zoom range on the VI is the equivalent of 24-70mm on the original Sony RX100 the zoom range is the equivalent of 28-100mm.

I had models III and IV, and I sold both of them. I still prefer a DSLR for real photography. I now use a Sony A6000 when I need a compact camera. Try some comparison sites. Amazon and others are selling a "Sony RX100" for $368. I wonder what that is.

Which RX100 of the series are you looking at?? The VI? Thinking this is probably what you are considering here is a comparison with the Panasonic SZ70, which I would consider to be a typical camera of the ilk you are considering with the Sony. Comparison may help you to make the decision whether the Sony is worth the extra costs.

Enjoy your new camera!

Purchased the RX100 II when it was new. I take it with my Canon 5D IV on trips. I purchased it the first time I went to Disney with my granddaughter because I didn’t want to take my DSLR. I now refer to it as my ‘Disney’ camera. It has always taken great pictures for me and I’ve had quite a few blown up and put on canvas. I also use it on the beach instead of my DSLR. Hope you like yours!

I’m quite happy with my RX100 III, but have often wanted a little more reach in the lens. If I did not already have the III, I think the VI would be my next purchase...
