I would recommend Mt. Mitchell. It can be reached by a drive to a parking lot near the top.
I also like to visit the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild-Milepost 382 Blue Ridge Parkway
Asheville, NC 28805. 828-523-4110.

If you like Mexican food, there is a great restaurant in Biltmore Village called The Cantina. (They have great margaritas!)

Whatever you do, enjoy yourselves!

If you are planning on the South, visit Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. I’d also recommend Beaufort, SC. In North Carolina try to visit the Outer Banks.

I have a Canon 80D. I know some naysayers will tell you that it is a beginner’s camera, as it’s not full frame. However, the weight of the camera is an issue for me, so it is perfect for me. I love the features it offers. I started with a lower end Canon Rebel, and upgraded when my son told me he needed to “borrow” my camera for art school. Lol! I knew I’d never see it again, and that’s been the case. I was able to buy this camera 2 years ago with 2 kit lenses for $1,100. I have other lenses, and invested in an Sigma 18-300mm last summer. If you are going to be photographing people, there are other prime lenses that are better for this. I’m more of a landscape person myself, although I have used the lens for street photography and have been pleased with the results. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

I'm a little late in posting these. My DH and I celebrated our 30th anniversary with a trip to England and Paris.
These are from The Cotswolds and our B & B, called The Old Parsonage House. Parts of it were 600 years old.

I like the bridge image.

Thanks! I actually won a ribbon, my first, with this image. Honorable Mention, but at least I placed!

Great shots..living in Washington State means living wet. Rain rain.

I don’t care about the rain. I fell in love with the Olympic Peninsula.

I just spent 2 1/2 weeks in Washington, and fell in love! I now want to move there.

I have a Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 full frame lens for Canon. It's never been used. $400.00 plus S&H and insurance if wanted. It doesn't work with my crop sensor camera.

I upgraded from a T3i to an 80D, and couldn't be happier. It's been easy to learn, and I like its features.

Try and make that trip every year in October for a reunion with a couple of Navy buddies and their wives. We usually rent a cabin near Gatlinburg, TN. There was a very damaging fire last fall and I'm not sure what was damaged. Google cabins for rent, Gatlinburg, Tn or Great Smokie National Park and see what is available if you are interested in a cabin. If not, there are loads of hotels in and near Gatlinburg. If you don't mind hiking, you should visit Kingman's Dome in the Park. Google Great Smokie National Park and you can have the National Park Service send you some information. There are too many sights to see in one trip, that's why we keep going back. You are right to start now, that is a very busy destination. Good luck.

Kingman's Dome is actually Clingman's Dome. Visit Cherokee. There is a great National Park farm on the far side of Cherokee that is wonderful to visit. My brother was a National Park Historian there for 20 years, so we visited quite often. You can then cross into TN and Gatlinburg from there.
