Hello My name is Jordan, I just bought my first DLSR camera today, a Nikon d3000. Yes it is a bit out dated but i got a great deal on it. It came with a 18-55 lens and a 55-200 lens. I bought the camera to finally persue my love of taking pictures and to document the story of my family. I am expecting my first child in the fall and want to make sure that I get enough practice for the event. I hope to find new friends and teachers here!!

Welcome to the forum. Welcome to finally realizing photography and most of all welcome to being a parent. You are in for quite a ride.
That camera that you have might be a little dated but in it's time it was an excellent choice. I think you made a very good choice.
again welcome
Welcome to the forum and welcome to the best nightmare a couple can share, raising children. I remember when I had hair; three daughters later... wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Hello Jordan, welcome to UHH.
Welcome and congratulations on the best journey you'll ever take!
Welcome. Learn to see your camera settings on your computer. This way your can change settings and see different results. I use Photoshop Elements for post process. PP is as much fun as taking pictures. Post some here and ask for advice and you will get great tips. David
In 1975, I got seriously into photography when our first child was on the way. Many of those shots were not high quality, because of my inexperience. However, I kept many of them. Now, with the technology of Photoshop and other programs such as Paint Shop Pro, I can resurrect those poor shots by cropping, color correction, exposure changes, etc. That opened a world of high-quality shots with great memories. My advice to you is to keep many of the early shots you take, even if you do not consider them high quality. Welcome to a rewarding hobby.
