I believe the picture is true, and her hand is one of most visible object. i corrected background and there are no changes to hand, when i measure thumbs on left and right hand difference is approx.3milimeters in length which is not significant.
BTW nice portrait anyway, it have character
what was the lens you used?

Note her right hand, which looks enormous compared to how it looks in reality. What baffles me is that it is right up against her leg, not held out significantly closer to the camera. The window bars are square in reality, but in the image they taper at the bottom and widen to the top. Is that a hint as to what is causing the distortion in the size of the hand? My thinking is that the window bars appear to be getting closer together because they are progressively farther from the lens, so why would the hand do the opposite? Sure am confused . . .

It says in home page "Photo Gallery" Show off your pics and/or ask for general critique.

I think you didn't asked and i missed that..

BTW I'm 64 and STILL hungry for new learning

Well you didn't get my humor, that's ok, you should know that the Photo Gallery on UHH is not for critic, there is another section especially for that. Btw. I am 87 years old and I am retired from learning.

Barry,

Yes.

You may experience up to a -2Ev stop reduction in light, but increasing the ISO one stop, and lowering the Aperture one stop will compensate for the CPL.

Why would you say something like that?
Your camera is not adjusting through the lens and compansate itself for lights? You can see instantly if your wiefinder if exposur is right or under/over. Your automatic mode doest know IF there is filter on
Or of and still shoting right? In manual seting i would compensate only for special shots, and when i need picture viped white or creating night mood. Stop complicate shooting proces and spend more time on shooting object/subject.

Hmm,wider lens will create distortions ,stick with what you have,fill-up with flash and at day time use higher ISO (No grain up to ISO400 with D810 at day time)that will let you use higher F stop or shutter speed depends what you need or want and you,ll gain DOF,sharpness, play with what you have and use correct lens for different occasions, it is easy, buying will get you nowhere as long as you don't know your capabilities, just use what you have! Create your pictures in your mind BEFORE you'll start shooting, sometime there is time for it, LOL. Shoot on manual all time.
Be more adventurer with your equipment, it is digital remember, nothing to lose, and remember to handle and learn your camera every day, play with it, create set up (choice of four) for different situations ,after all D800-810 is complicated machine and use it correctly with different futures(set up) for different type of photography is important, otherwise you'll have just very expensive P&S camera, take time, try to be very close or i would say intimate with your camera,be comfortable switching setups and make changes AS YOU GO without thinking, just look at pro, they just shoot, but they spend lot of time with their cameras because it take time and practicing to understand your possibilities and cameras. But i thing you know all of this anyway, we just sometime forgetting all this.

Well, I'm not going to throw in the towel yet, but so far the only advantage I have found is the lack of weight. Here is a shot with the 24-120 at 55mm. I think it looks about as good as the 50mm except there is probably shallower depth of field with the 50. Also, this one is at f4/5, and the other one above is with f/4.

I'll bet the 50mm may be great with my D300 with the crop factor. I'll have to try it.

JEAN just take same pictures(55mm) of your dog with your new 50mm,I bet you you'll see the difference right there, you'll get new background,
crispy, sharper and also more dynamic colors in it .You"ll love it then ..
It is NOT only about weight, find purpose for your lens

This is a UFO

It is in fact UFO as we can't identified that object LOL.
Long exposure like 0.5 or 1sec, tripod, some 400 iSO and small landing plane it could be. But of course it is unidentified....
Nicely done anyway

Paintshop Pro X5 straighten option does it within frame, no cropping needed. It's automatic.

Sarge69

It crops automatically, there is cropping Sarge ,that is why comparing pictures after process show different size, usually smaller.

I suspect those of you who are serious about your craft have now discovered the geniuses at adobe won't ship free standing Photoshop programs anymore. It appears you have to sign up for an outrages amount of money EACH month on their eponomously named CLOUD program to use CS-6. I crashed my computer and have to find a new photo editing software. Have any of you used Corel? and if so, how does it stand up to Photoshop CS-6

Did you do some complicated adjustments with your Photoshop,do you need that high level? Regular photo PP is normally simple and any other program will do it. It depend all on your needs, to me Adobe is for Pro and Photoshop elements can be switched for anything else, Serif, Gimp, Picasa,Corel.
I'm using Zoner studio 15 it does everything Raw included, organize, view
i have never make better choice. It is free or paid, they have 30 days trials

None, why, have I missed something? You have missed the point my friend. Focus. The point is, no one cares what America has sold to any country. The point is, Syria, a Muslims country dose not give a donkey's a** about you... IF given the chance, they will cut YOUR throat. How simple can that be. Repeat, IF given the chance - YOUR throat. Get it now?

How scarce you must be and how strong brainwashing is applied to you, people, you just can live easy life, without war, guns and hates.
This country was build on blood rivers, in old west, and it all continue up today!!!!! Just check Hollywood 'modern' westerns, American heroes win and KILL everybody, that is your justice, who owns bigger gun is RIGHT, i know you are not all same like everywhere normal people so why the hell you believe that ordinary Syrian, and another Arabs just live to kill American?? Listen this should be our last argument ,you believe what you want to,i have my true,i lived 30 long and very unpleasant years under communist regime and what i see now is that you have it right on your backyard. They let you believe that you STILLl have freedom but it is far from the truth.Firs YOU American should clean your house and than live nice live, forgot other nations lock your border and stay in your home, and you don't have to worry about "having cutting throat" or another attack on twin tower or marathon run or ... whatever
I will not respond anymore to this, unless it is about photography ,good night
