My bad. The wave is Coyote Buttes North. White Pockets is in Coyote Buttes, South.

I think North Coyote Buttes is 4 wheel drive especially to get to White Pockets.

On the subject of the wave, if you go to Kanab, UT., to the BLM office just before 9 A.M., you put your name in for a lottery for a permit for the following day. They draw 10 people, and since you can apply with up to 6 on one application, you have to get lucky because there can be 75-100 people hoping the same as you. Go online and look up the wave. There are some incredible pictures to give you an idea of what it is like.

One more thing; IF, you are in good shape and do not mind hiking 3 1/2 miles each direction, AND if you get lucky, (lottery drawing) think about "The Wave". Only 20 people allowed per day, and you have to navigate your way to find it. no marked trails, and you are in total wilderness area. It is incredible. You need food and water and have the ability to navigate your way there. It is all sand and slick rock.

Also, be sure to see Horseshoe Bend. The view is spectacular.

Almost forgot. While there, be sure to get to Horseshoe Bend. It is very close to Page, and is spectacular!

In October, the light is not as good, so you will have to shoot at lower speeds. I would suggest paying the extra $$ (25?) to get the Photographers permit. This allows you to use a tripod and I don't believe they are quite as strict about keeping up with the group.

I have had this lens for a couple of years. It is tack sharp. Manual focus can be a challenge depending on subject, but it is a super lens, notwithstanding the price.

Doesn't look like the bee will EVER make that mistake (again).

I would imagine that Elements has the ability, and I am not sure if Nikon changes the software depending on camera model, but D800 came with View NX.

Most, if not all editing programs have the ability to recognize the focus point or points in your pictures. Aperture 3, and VIEW NX will show the focus point. With Aperture, go to metadata, click on the focus point indicator at the top of the data.

With View NX, go to image and click on show focus point(s). If you have cropped the pic, it may not show the focus point(s)

Had the same problem with a LEXAR 1000X card. After going through the same routine you did, I called LEXAR, and received an RMA. They are in the process of rescuing the pix. They say it may take up to 8 weeks, and there is no absolute guarantee they will be able to salvage the pix, either but I'm sure their equipment is much more sophisticated. At least it is worth the effort.

I think the original #3, would be dramatically affected (positively), by cropping out the sky to just about the top of the steeple. All photos are subjective, but I don't think shooting from a lower angle would be much more beneficial, if at all. In this case by cropping, you still get the clouds, and contrast that give this pic a winning quality

Not to beat a dead horse, but did a little research, and Spruce needles are very sharp on the ends, Fir, not, so I think that is a Fir.

That's pretty safe, although Fir tree needles grow right out of the branch.
