I recently purchased a 32GB Transcend CompactFlash 133x. I formatted in the camera I was going to use it in (Canon EOS30D) and proceeded to take pictures. I came home to download the pictures and it says there are none. I have a iMAC computer and I tried to download directly from the camera and my computer doesn't recognize my camera. So I decided to take more pictures and all of a sudden my camera won't take pictures and flashes CF ERR. I put my old Transcend 32 GB compactflash in and everything works fine. HELP.....I really want those pictures.

Another horror story about disappearing pictures. I can recommend a free download called Recuva. It should be able to pick up any images on your card. Since the old card works, and the new one doesn't, I'd suspect a card problem.

Did you see the pictures on your LCD as they were being taken? Could be a pin problem - not unheard of. If the card is bad, you should be able to return it to the store or the manufacturer.

Thanks for your reply. I will try to use the free recovery program that you suggested. As I was taking pictures I could see them on my LCD screen. I will let you know how I make out.

I just heard that it will not, but there are other programs for the Mac. Take a look here.

Thanks again. I tried a couple of them: disk drill and Mac CF card recovery and all say that there are no images. I am going to accept that it is a lessoned learned when getting a new card...take some test pictures.

Is there a limit on how fast a card you can use on a 30D?

Since it's a new card, you can get your money back or get a new card. Still, it would be nice to find out why it didn't work. Could you bring it to a camera store with actual camera people? It could be a problem with the pins.

Had the same problem with a LEXAR 1000X card. After going through the same routine you did, I called LEXAR, and received an RMA. They are in the process of rescuing the pix. They say it may take up to 8 weeks, and there is no absolute guarantee they will be able to salvage the pix, either but I'm sure their equipment is much more sophisticated. At least it is worth the effort.

I tried to reformat just to see if the card would work and it doesn't so I am returning it to amazon. Thanks everyone for your replies.

Does the card have an embossed serial number on it. Lots of chatter on the internet about counterfeit cards. Primary source,,, the slag heaps of cards that do not meet quality standards at mfrs.

How reliable was your source... ie. well known retail outlet, etc.
