That's only good reason TO get away - I try to be as far away as possible from any relatives...lol

Yes, listen to MT, Michelle. Your aperture is WAY too wide open for that long of a shutter, unless you're photographing a birthday cake with two candles in a dark room...

Adblock is a Chrome Add-on that pretty much blocks all click-through type ads on webpages. User supported freeware. Makes a huge difference.

Colors vary whether you're talking LIGHT or INK (Pigment)

Mix red, green and blue light - you get WHITE light.
Mix red, green and blue ink - you get BLACK ink.

Interesting, huh?

You live in nice, warm San Antonio, and you want to retire to New Hampshire? You nuts?.. :)

Probably ADMIN likes the churning of members. I'm sure that a new member is much more likely to click an ad than any of us who has been here for a few months.
+1. Those of us with Chrome and Adblock, he doesn't need. :)

I don't know Nikons but I'd be surprised if their output was meant to look like that. If no one here has any useful thoughts, I'd run to the nearest Ritz or other camera store and have someone take a look at it. It's probably something simple, but I have no idea what does what on the Nikon menuing system. Does taking the battery out for 5-10 minutes do anything? Sometimes that resets all user-settable options.

I was surprised with the test results for UV lens filters, Hoya came out on top.
Why were you surprised? Hoya generally has a very good reputation.

Actually there is no need to convert to an 8bit JPEG to send an image to the printer. I only print either PSD or TIFF files at 16bit.
This is true - you can print a raw file, with the appropriate raw converters and codecs, depending on your viewing program. However, most raw files are ugly, and what you're actually printing is the JPEG thumbnail embedded in it.

Using the BULB setting allows you to leave the shutter open for as long as you like. A remote (wired or wireless) shutter release makes it a lot easier than holding the button down on the camera for 15 minutes.. :)

I'm trying to set the shutter to bulb but I can't find the setting. Any help here. Once again the camera is a T2i.

You need to be in (M) manual mode.

Use the thumbwheel to advance the shutter to "30" - the next choice should be "B" for BULB mode. Press the shutter. Not sure if the XTi has the "one-two" press or not, I always used a remote release.

There are several scam-baiting sites out there, all basically follow the same idea - trick the idiot scammers by using their greed and ignorance against them. Some of the lengths the scammers go to is hilarious. One scam-fighter got a goofball to recite and record all 36 chapters of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe" on the pretense of paying him for an audio book. The scammer even paid about $1800 out of his own pocket for recording equipment, which is the holy grail of the scam-baiters - get them to spend money (or better yet, borrow it from other crooks) with the idea that they'll be repaid.
