UHH average life
Just jumping around the EF thread and noted that that the start date for those posting was in most cases was only a few months ago. I've not done a major study on this subject but at a glance it appears people come and go in a short period of time. I also note that I registered last August and after a few months my profile disappeared, I registered again in November and have been some what active since then. In that time I have noted 3 very active people go away, Bob(health I think), EW, and the third I forgot his handle. Are there any real old timers here? If so we young ones need your help.
There seems to be a human nature trait often displayed on sites such as this where many are often avid and regular, but in a fairly short period they see the same pictures, questions, and personality disputes repeat over and over. I am not pretending to be a "old timer" or to be any help to anyone, but I have seen this pattern. I do not offer a solution except to suggest that if one enjoys this format, persevere - ignore some, note some, know when to hold, know when to walk away, and know when to run......Sorry, some times I just break into song.

When I joined the forum in September there was less than 150 members, it was pretty new. It really exploded in the last couple of months, we also have more than a few members who have posted once or twice that have just gone away.
Some of the "older" members post every now and again, but not as often as they did when we were a small tight knit group of loons.
Hard to get much older here as the forum was started July of 2011.
One thing I have noticed is, true, people come and go, but the same questions keep repeating themselves each and every month.
When I joined in Novenber there were over 8,000 members, I see its over 16,000 now. I wonder how many are still actually here? I sometimes answer a question, but the OP never does come back to reply, or ever post again.
for what ever reason I did not know the site is only 10 months old. I do greatly enjoy seeing the photos from all over the world and continue to enjoy the site and I guess I have to stick with it untill the old water tower is down.

As with MWAC and some others, I've been haunting the site since early September. It was a lot more fun when there were only a couple of hundred members, since posts and threads stayed current a lot longer. I've seen some users come and go, that's just something that always goes on at a place like this. There are troll post-baiters, one-hit wonders, deluded experts, shy newcomers and everything in between. I consider it a window on the world. :)

There are also those who have specific questions they'd like opinions for. They sign up get the opinions they were after and they leave.
English Wolf is still here... Check the Macro section out. With all the new members it's hard to even cover the days new pictures. I saw some photos the other day by someone who started very early here, and that was the first time I ever saw a post by him. Just too much to cover and digest every day.

I joined in July of '11, but didn't post. I was/am such a novice that I figured I was WAAAAYYYY in over my head and decided I'd just 'lurk' for a while. So even though I go back a ways, I'm relatively new with regard to posting.

EW's last post was April 7th in the "Jumper" thread. He hasn't posted since. I think he just might be gone, judging by his last post and the way he called other members out.

I am kind of sad to see him go. He was a wonderful resource, though a bit heavy handed at times. I just learned to take him with a grain of salt.
Probably ADMIN likes the churning of members. I'm sure that a new member is much more likely to click an ad than any of us who has been here for a few months. And those clicks on the ads is what pays the bills for the site.

+1. Those of us with Chrome and Adblock, he doesn't need. :)
I like your post. I am a newcomer but a senior citizen hoping to break away from the loneliness by using my eye and creativity before both fails. lol. I see a lot of beautiful things that I want to capture and used to use my 35mm camera. It is a form of art I love.

Jim, In risk of sounding like an idiot...(again), is that Adblock in Chrome what it sounds like? I use IE9 and I'm sick of all the adds. Does it block "all" adds or what's the deal? Thanks Don.
