If you use your printer everyday some 3rd party inks are fine but they tend to clog your printer head if not used regularly. I ruined my wide format Epson by trying to save money on ink, never again!
Take the leap and sign up for the Adobe photography plan, $9.95 a month but it's well worth it. Regular up dates to Photoshop and Lightroom. Only thing you'll ever need in one bundle!
Been shooting Pentax digital since 2007, great camera's just no recognition.
Pentax is looking better all the time!
Before you go with any of the big name 2, Nikon or Canon, check out some of the great deals that Pentax is offering right now. B & H have some super deals on Pentax from their new flagship K-3 model on down the line. Don't buy before you check these out. Great cameras at a fantastic price.

Sorry you have had such bad experiences with professional organizations.
The best group I belong to is the local affiliate of the PPA.
Yes, it's a couple of hundred a year, but for that, I get 8-10 monthly meetings with teaching sessions at most, and print critiques twice a year with PPA certified judges. And for nominal sums ($39), day long sessions with national instructors about 4 times a year. We just had Lindsay Adler (

For Skibo, look here:

Hey Wall-E,
I agree with you 100%. I have been a member of national PPA since 2008 and just recently joined my local group, VPPA. I have had nothing but positive experiences from this organization. The workshops are worth the price of membership alone, plus you get insurance, lawyers to help you in case of problems and much more in the form of training and business models. I am also a member of NAPP which can be very useful at times. I am full time so I take my photography serious!
How many of you are members of professional photography organizations like the PPA or similar groups? Either way what are your general feelings about them good or bad.
Love my Black Rapid, use the single and the double. A bit costly but worth every penny!
You can also meter for the sky and use fill flash to light the actual subject
Might want to take a look at Black Rapid also!
Take a look at Induro, great tripods for the money
My vote is for the Sekonic L-358, I use my a lot for studio sessions and it works great.
Quick, find another class!
I first found out about Charles Lewis a couple of years ago. He is basically all about promoting your business and not the actual mechanics of photography. I've never bought any of his material but I do try and catch some of his online seminars which are basically about selling yourself and your products. You can pick up some good tips at times.
