Thanks but there were a lot of real photographers there. I did try to send some to the local stations but my computor died that night. We have a lot of fires in southern Oregon (however not like Texas) that are mostly lightning strikes and last night we had lightning in our hills so there will be a lot of fires to put out.

I was on my way to the county fair to see how my pictures
did and saw the beginning of this fire. When I came back from
the fair I stopped along the edge of the freeway for a short time and snapped these. These people are remarkable that take chances with the water buckets. When they start to sway they actually pull on the helicopter. Very scarry.
Shot 2 was where it originated from a backfire from a car. It burned 5220 acres and threatened 44 homes (no homes were lost).
Shot 3 was taken from a rest stop (police chased me off the side of the freeway) and is on the backside of the fire at about
8PM.

I can see what you are saying, however its a head to tail shot and I don't know how to get the tail out. Maybe if my camera was a little higher as I would like to have gotten more of the dark fillies muzzle.

get honorable mention but I had it in the wrong category. The 2nd and 3rd were shot at 8PM into the sun so might have something to do with the blue tint.
