Any smart person will use the cell phone instead of going "I wish I had my camera".

And remember, if God wanted us to exercise, he wouldn't have invented the TV remote.

OK- You're walking down a dark, narrow, One-Way street at 1:34 A.M. in Kansas City, KS. There is NO moon! There are NO lighted buildings. There is a blank, white, block wall to your right the full length of the short block. With the direction you're walking, you are approaching the ONE lone, but quite bright, streetlight on the OTHER side. As you get close to being abreast of that light, does your shadow:
(a) follow you as you pass the light?
(b) precede you as you pass the light?
(c) stay abreast of you as you pass the light?
(d) since you are a Vampire, you cast NO shadow!
(e) None of the above.

I think you missed the point.

Sort term gain for long term pain.

I find your sunset most appealing. I might crop it down to a 2 x 1 ratio and cut off the people on the bottom. That would also take off a bit of the sky. That would highlight the interplay of the layers in the silhouette.

Thank you for sharing.

Joe Blow, it was an advisory. People reaping huge salaries managing charities are sort of a contradiction. As I mentioned, I'll give my money directly to those who need it, not those wishing to line their own pockets with it.

The point is the chart is bull shit. The recommended charities pay their leaders an equal high amount. Who, and even if you donate, to is your business. I strongly disagree with those that lie.

#4 for the win. I also like #5 with #6 not far behind. #3 is very good too.

You used the sunlight well. Shadows on the face give depth, making them more dimensional.

American Red Cross - 89% of income goes to projects. President is paid $603,000, an amount comparable to similar positions in the private sector. v

March of Dimes - 75% of income is used for projects. That includes research for cures and better care. https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=4045

Brian Gallagher is over paid in my opinion. He received $1.2 Million in pay and benefits. His base pay is $532,000.

Carol Stern gets a salary of $570,000. She drives a Toyota Prius. UNICEF uses 91% of its money for its projects. https://www.unicefusa.org/about/faq/ceo-salary-email

There is no Mark Curran at GoodWill. 87% of their income is used in their projects. As well, they are a 503(c) organization and has no owner. http://www.goodwill.org/uncategorized/think-before-you-donate-and-get-the-facts-about-email-rumors/

This chart started back in 2005 and continues to follow the right wing nutjob circles. No matter how many times it is refuted, it pops up again. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/executive-salaries-charities/

Salvation Army's Todd Basset left in 2003. The current Commissioner gets a reported $127,000. As a church, the SA does not have to report salaries as other charities do.

The Foreign Legion paid its national adjutant, Daniel S. Wheeler, $201,000 in 2011. Less than half their income went to help veterans. http://www.politifact.com/rhode-island/statements/2011/dec/11/chain-email/chain-e-mail-claims-top-executives-veterans-organi/

The same BS is exposed for the rest of this fraud.

The best answer.

What works for others doesn't mean it will work for you. Putting your hands on a product is usually the best for items comfort and even usability.

My thoughts exactly.

Whenever I try something like this, I always end up with a bug chewed leaf.

Two unsolicited comments.

1) Don't be afraid to use custom cropping. Large expanses of cloudless sky detracts from your subject. While 2x3 is the most common ratio, 1x2 is very useful for long lines in order to reduce wasted space.

2) When there are strong horizontal lines, level your photo in PP.

Good luck to the newlyweds.

I'm not crazy about #1. The first thing to cross my mind was "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". There was just nothing there to grab my attention. There is no theme or subject.

#2 is much better. However, you should have decided if you wanted to stop action or smooth your water. It appears you went in between and got neither. Monotone is a nice PP, but as mentioned elsewhere, sepia might be a nice touch.

My preference is that water generally looks better smoothed. That isn't everyone's preference and I accept that. Stop action showing droplets is best for action shots of kids splashing in a pool, a dog shaking itself off, or water dripping from a faucet. That isn't to suggest a waterfall or rapids can't be stopped. A kayak shooting down the rapids can make a nice stop action.

Please remember, these are my opinions and, along with $1.19, you can get a 20 oz coffee at the local Marathon station. If they make you happy or if they give you any pleasure then they work. My comments are harsher than those shots deserve.

What are the top 5 setting that should be considered when preparing to take a photo in anything except manual mode? Does the question make sense?

There are no top 5 settings. Each situation requires its own settings.

Learn the exposure triangle, depth of field, and composition. That is all you need to know.
