Thank you. One of these days I will clean up these photos.

Right. I just love the "I finally made it" story I can tell!
I tell folks I almost made it in the history books when I was in the Air Force. I was on the ground crew of the Voyager in 1986 and when it landed, they moved the plane into the hanger where the media was, so President Reagan could call the pilots. I punched down the phone line to the PA system I put up, so all the hanger could hear the President's phone call... He sent a telagram instead, so I never made it in the history books.

But I did get a photo published by a Pittsburgh paper.
Thanks, Randy
I agree ebrunner "HDR is a very good way of saving certain photos." I also don't like the over cooked look. I do love that it can bring out more natural lights and displays more of what the natural eyes normally sees.
Thank you for your comments BMac.
Here is a demonstration of a good use of HDR.
You will see the original normal exposure and what HDR can do for you.
I don't believe you could get this type of photo with just one exposure.
Comment please!
Randy
Normal Exposure Shot
HDR Shot but I didn't over do it. You can see the bench at the end and all the detail on how the coverage bridge was built.
I emailed them the photo aroudn 5AM and they put it on their site, then they sent a photographer out to get the front page photo (after the fire had almost died down) and they placed the emailed photo on page B7 without credit. I could have emailed them the day it came out and asked them to but didn't.
My name does show up on the internet version of the story with two other photos which I took. One shows kids walking up the middle of the road who had to leave their homes in the middle of the night.
Maybe next time I will email them. But I was so happy to have them use one of them. At least I can tell folks, "as see in the Greensburg Tribune Review".
Randy
Thank you, I like it also. Every time I make it home I love to go there and sit on the rocks, just like Longfellow did. But the Lord has us in Western PA for now.
Have a very Merry Christmas.

On December 19th, 2013 around 4AM we started hearing explosions. And then I saw a fire ball in the sky. I started taking pictures but I should have had my tripod, which I had later, but oh well.
I took this photo which ended up (uncredited) in the Tribune Review in Greensburg, PA, on it's 20 Dec 2013 edition, Page 7B.
This photo also was used on WPXI TV 11 in Pittsburgh in their 6:30 AM News cast. The Tribune Review does also have three shots on their web site and they credit me for those shots.
So I can say that I am a Published Photographer.
For the UHH post which I did I am adding the link:

If anyone is interested I put alot more photos on

I have alot on the aftermath of the fire, showing the condition now.
Yes, the Tribune Review in Greensburg used 3 on their online edition. They used one in their print edition (uncredited though) but I know it's me. And WPXI TV used one on air.
So though I didn't grab my tripod at 4am I still made it as a published photographer.
When I went back I made sure I had my tripod
Yes, and the fire department did a wonderful job. I believe 12 companies responded and most of the are volunteers. If fact one engine was involved in an accident responding to the scene.
You had houses a few feet from the building which only had blown out windows and melted siding. No one was hurt.
We live in Steelers' country and one person had a steeler mannequin in their house and so the fire department was vacating the houses near the site, they looked through the front door and saw someone inside and broke down the front door to rescue the person inside. The owner had left vacated earlier and locked up So one body was hurt.
God really was protecting this town.
Thank you for looking.
Thank you! I emailed WPXI in Pittsburgh around 5AM and they sent Dave Bondy up here and he did a wonderful job covering the fire. I was really impressed with how they covered it.
Yes is was amazing.
Thanks
Randy
