IBM, you clearly don't know what you're talking about and are just guessing. Do you even have a Nikon? Read the manual if you have one, if not, the pdf manual is online at Nikon USA.

I see where I was wrong I been calling the exposer locked , my thinking is back wards , all these years , I'm taking exposer for what I see as it is focus what I see you don't see the exposer until you see the picture. Live and learn so I mostly shoot continues focus and continues exposure. A that is mostly spray and pray ,

Yes I have two of them, there both set on BBF for the last three or four years and never taken of that mode and I don't imagine they ever will be it's so much easer than tickling the shutter the other way , and I get a lot more keepers, instead of missing shots, it's not rocket science but to most people it appears to be just that , I really can't get over it ,

So with this logic then beginner should buy the best to compensate for lack of skill in the beginning. Later you get more skill and don't need such a good camera to get good images.

With what logic ?? I'm thinking he's looking for a good camera for street , they make them from $50 to a couple thousand or more , the best camera is not going to make you more skilled , there is a lot of we'll known street photographers who use small put in your pocket camereas who make a good living from it .

Now after reading all this your more confused than ever , the cameras you see today look the same as they did twenty years ago but the
Sensor in side is smaller it's not 35 millimeter no more , it's smaller the old film was 35 mm , they still make the 35mm , but now they call it a full frame camera and the ones with the smaller sensor are called DX camereas , and if you put a 100mm lens on a dx you still got a 100mm lens but now you get a bonus ,the 100 mm lens on a dx camera will give you a extra 50 mm of zoom So It's Like shooting with a
150mm lens , and if you shoot with a 500mm lens on a dx you get in effect like shooting with a 750mm lens , it pulls what ever your shooting in that much more , so if you can't afford that $7000 5oomm zoom lens and a full frame camera for $3500 . Over $10000 total
Just buy a dx camera refurbished for $600 and a 200-500mmzoom for $1200 . And for $1500 total you can go get your self some very nice shots, after all you will have the equivalent of a 300 -750 mm lens on the end of your camera not , don't be scared to buy refurbished ,it's almost like new ,

Are you talking a camera that will fit in your pocket or a big honking SLR, if it was me I would look at the SMALLER BRANDS fujiji, fixed lens or small zoom .OR the small Sony, I think they have a small fit in your pocket for around $600 ,

Ok, yeah I think I don't have it worded right. The BBF is activated on my camera using the AF/AE button on the back. That's all good, I have no problems with that. My question is that since I have assigned that button for the focus, how would I do an exposure lock. I believe that oldtigger may have answered my question. I assigned the preview button to AE and if I don't like that I will try the FN button.

The ONLY thing I don't like about BBF is that my hands are small so I sometimes have to hold the camera differently to have my thumb hit that button.

Forget about exposer lock, it's locked once you take your finger of the bb which you have a asigned the job of focus, it not like using the shutter button if you keep pushing it locks and takes the picture, just put your camera on continues focus never mind locking anything , happy bird hunting ,

I'm still unsure of what you mean , but as for locking exposer ,as soon as you take your finger of BBF the exposer is locked , it is locked there tell you push it again .it will stay there all year locked , and if your taking pictures every day your going to get a lot of messed up shots if you never refocus for the changes in distance,

I am considering entering one of these photos in a local photo contest. If you like either, would you please indicate which.

That's easy , the first one is a picture, the second is a throw away , it's not a keeper at all ,

I would think you would only lock your focus if you were taking photos on a tripod , and shooting a fixed posing chair of the grad class or something to that effect , you do not want to lock your focus up on sports , birds , car racing, or any action shot , I must be taking your question all wrong ???

Hi, I've been using BBF on my D750 for a few months now and I've become quite accustomed to it. My question is.... well... trying to figure how to word this because I could be all wrong.

Clearly I can press the AE lock button (BBF) and then recompose and shot. How about metering and recomposing the shot? I mean, I'm using the AE lock button for focus.... how may I lock exposure?

Oh geez!

I may be missing something but l just use bb continues focus , and when I focus it's locked then when I take my finger off l can shoot the rest of the day and not have to refocus again as long as I'm shooting at same location , I can take it off continues focus and put it on lock if I want , but flying birds that is not a good idea , that's like trying to shoot flying birds using the shutter button for focus and shooting to take the pic , with same button , you will miss a pile of shots doing it that way ,

It's no different than focusing wth your shutter , we'll it's different in a good way .you hold down the back button make sure it's set on continues focus ,, put your black dot on the bird and snap away or hold the shutter down , and follow bird and see how many you get in
One go , if the bird is sitting in a tree , hold back button down tell it's in focus then you can let go and and shoot all day long witout refocusing on that spot , you will only have to focus again if bird jumps to another branch then focus once and shoot tell it jumps to a different tree , it will become second nature to do in about a hour of practise , an there is no cost like zapping of a roll of film

Stay with Pentax. A lot better then the other two.

I don't care what he gets, but maybe you should rethink , if pen tax is a lot better than the other two , how come in every test between pentax against canon and pentax against nikon , pentax comes in on the losing end of all the test , and these test go into every thing thing from all that's possible science we have today , granted pentax is a good camera , but not quite as good as the top two , or maybe you have a pentax and it's just wish full thinking , these instruments don't lie , what they read between the differences in cameras is a fact , and if you can't see it . It is still there , LINES OF RESOLUTION, PIXCEL FLARE, And COLOURING ETC, I'm just saying I would get the best in my opinion nikon canon or canon nikon , but I would be happy with any one , even pentax , because I don't have the equipment to to bring out the flaws , there is a lot of stuff that can get the job done . But its human nature to go over board and buy more than you need , But the faults are there even if you can't see them , so do yourself a favor and get a nikon or canon ,

You didn't say how much you are willing to spend , I won't tell you what to buy only what I would do , I have used a nikon for the last ten years and pentax, koneka ,minolta ,Kodak for the 65 years before that , if I was going to buy a month or so ago it would be the top dx made by canon , but now it would be the top dx by nikon after reading all the testing reports the Nikon D500, but If wanted to save money , I would buy a refurbished nikon D7200 , IT WAS RATED as a winner and if you can get a sweet deal on one if you happen to see one in your local paper or buy sell or creges list , with low accusations on the shutter 20000 or 30000 maybe lower , check it out could be $400 to $600 that would be a steal ,

Nice , I was told by a nature shooter , when you work your photos in PP that your just bringing out what a eagle would see at about a quarter mile away if it was looking at another eagle , so that and the shape tells him it's a brother and not dinner , so by leaving it as is ,all your doing is handy capping your your own eye sight from seeing all what is there , the object is bringing out all what's there , if we had eyesight like a eagle has , we may just see what is there with out coaxing it out of the feathers , its like we are blind compared to a lot nature's keen eyed subjects , a lot of people think it's a crime to PP , but your not changing any thing that's not there all ready , just making it stand out , but adding things that are not in the pic , that would changing it , like more clouds , or trees etc , but if it's not in the picture to begin with your SOL, If It's THERE bring it out , put on your eagle eyes
