I am considering entering one of these photos in a local photo contest. If you like either, would you please indicate which.

I think that the sky matters, and thus prefer the upper. Also, the lower seems to have a color shift in the snow low down.

I prefer the first one because of the strong presence of the clouds versus the absence of them in the second photo.

I agree...#1 the bottom of #2 is close to being blown out.

Thanks jaymatt, appreciate your view and comment! I also like clouds, will wait for some time for it to get right.

only problem with first one is it never happened,
you'll never get away with having the sky visible through the mountain in several places.

When you're at 10-11000 feet, and shooting at a distant peak, my experience is if it's cloudy, scud often gets between you and your object. While I was shooting, I was on a snow cap about 100 yards from the parking area, a cloud moved in over me and obscured everything, could hardly see my feet. I had to stay there for 30-45 minutes until the cloud moved, almost froze in mid August. Thanks for your point of view!

I like the contrast in the second on between the sky and the mountains. In the first photo they look like they blend together.

Thanks Jim, really appreciate your view and comment! That's the debate I am having with myself, the first looks very busy to me.[quote=jim quist]I like the contrast in the second on between the sky and the mountains. In the first photo they look like they blend together.[/quote
