I might add that I have set in blind for at least 6 hours and I have plenty of power after taking a lot of pictures so I guess I should not be concerned. Its just it bugs me when I cannot figure out things when the camera talks to me. Please don't get into the "smart" thing as it is difficult as it is.

I have fully charged my canon batteries (2) and placed them in my canon 60d camera. Turned the camera on and viewed the LCD monitor and I see "something about can't read the left battery etc...What is going on here. Book says to proceed anyway but why can't the camera read both batteries. Is it a register problem? I am using battery grip of course.

Talk to the head lighting tech at the auditorium. He should be able to tell you EXACTLY how much light you'll have to work with. He can probably tell you the exposure, too. Tell him that you want to use ISO 200, for instance - and he should be able to tell you 'shoot at 1/125 & f8' or something like that. And, he can ensure you that all the musicians are equally well-lit.

Good luck & can you post the results?.

I can try. bear, I have discussed lighting with the tech. The problem is that the lighting must be where the players can read the music. We don't use lights on the stands. Perhaps we should

Will talked to him again however. You might be right.

Will you be in an auditorium of some sort? Do you have, or can you borrow an incident light meter, to measure the light falling from the over head lights? That will give you the BEST measurement. I agree, bracket! Will there be a 'dress rehearsal' that you can shoot, as practice?

Bear, no dress rehearsal in this auditorium, might be able to borrow a light meter. Even with my wild life shots I usually bracket. You know, I cannot believe how many folks are trying to help me. Makes this forum important and I was a bit dubious when I first joined. Thanks to all.

It may not be to ones liking but the simple truth of the matter is that learning more about photography and gaining information is only one of many reasons people participate in forums like UHH. Some will place more importance on the social aspects of their participation because that’s what they lack. Some will post a question and not give a hoot about the response only that they were responded to, it’s a form of validation. I understand that this is not a forum designed or intended for personality issues but when you join any kind of public forum you must understand that all kinds of personalities will be there you just can’t let it frustrate you. It doesn’t take long to get to know which posters you enjoy and which you’d rather skip over.
