Is this a replica of the HMS surprise from the Jack O'Brian "Master and Commander" series?

This is the ship used in Master and Commander.

That's a lot of rope!!!!!

Actually it's a lot of line. Onboard a sailing vessel it's referred to as line, never rope. But you're right, there's a lot of it.

I had family in town earlier this week. On Tuesday we went to the San Diego Maritime Museum. The first five shots are the Star of India. The second five are HMS Surprise.

I am curious how many do or don’t use Nikon’s active D lighting either in camera or post shooting using Nikon’s retouching software?

What say yea?

I've never used it in camera, but I use it regularly in post editing.

Nice work on this set Joe. Your orange damsel is one of the four color forms of the female Rambur's Forktail (Ischnura ramburii). Well done!

Thanks for the ID on the orange Damsel, Doc.

I shot these yesterday morning at Santee Lakes. The Dragonflies are Common Green Darners. The blue Damselfly I believe is a Rambur's Forktail. I wasn't able to ID the orange Damselfly.

A remarkable set Joe. They are indeed Variable Darners and a Common Green Darner(we call them AJ's) [/]Anax junius[/i]. The female Variables have a "box cutter type" appendage they use to slit open wet vegetation and deposit eggs inside. Well done!

Thanks for the info and confirmation on IDs, Doc.

I'm not a Dragonfly expert but I believe the first five are all female Variable Darners and the last one is a Common Green Darner.
