A 'narrowing down test' (if your Nikon d5200 has an external mic input) would be to hook a mic into your camera and see if the noise goes away. By the Way, all the reading that I've done is that ALL CAMERAS (under $2,500 for the body, or so) do not have adequate (on their in-camera mic) pre-amps. To 'get around that' I've been using an external voice recorder and then sync the sound in post. I just purchased a used Zoom H4 and it allows both its internal mics and external mic connections to output sound directly into any camera with a mic input. No more taking time to sync! Hurrary!

Let us know the outcome of your problem.

anyone who likes weather may enjoy these shots.

I enjoyed looking at them from 'afar'. I was a tornado spotter in Iowa until one year a tornado came down the middle of a square mile where two of us Amateur radio operators were 'across' from each other. We lost communication 1 MILE from each other. (I've talked to Europe from my auto!) Then I quickly lost (because of the thick dust) being able to even see the fence line just off the road that I was on. I immediately turned around, went back to our storm reporting 'home base' at the airport tower in Wateroo and resigned. However, to keep me from completely 'running away', they did make me a radio operator from the tower until we moved from Iowa.

Excellent shot. I would have had to 'cheat' using my video camera and selecting the "peak of the action" from my three seconds of 180 frames. ;-)

My camera did not get ANY good shots of the blood moon last night. Two people have told me this short video was 'good'. It is way to 'grainy' for me. But, I probably won't be around in 20 years when the next comes, so I thought I'd better share this years.

Viewers of your question might like to see my 'answer' (48 second video) of shore birds at the mouth of the Smith River, CA this fall. The link is:

I don't know if you UHH folks are interested or not but I have an ongoing project with our church.

Thanks for sharing your excellent video. My Christian 'talents' are in a 'slightly' different media. I use a different performing art to explain things that frequently, many times are a distraction from the truth, by using the stage performing art of illusion. For a sample explaining "God's Love", (many say things like "How can a loving God allow rape, murder, etc.?") go to www.assoc.com then select videos and then select God's Love.
In His love, Sam

This is going to confirm my stupidity. Why is the background so stable and the 'doll' so jurky?

I've watched GoPro videos before. One video showed two cameras on the same drone. One with image stabilization 'on' the other 'off'. Those videos (shown simultaneously side by side on the same screen) were a 'world' apart in stability.

If I were a betting person I'd say that two videos where made and put together in post.

Greg, I'd like to add my personal thanks as well. Even though I'm a Vietnam era vet, I did not go over seas in the mid 60's. My active service expired 1 month before my 1st Infantry Division (Army) started transferring to Vietnam in 1963. I couldn't believe that many US citizen's (late 60's) had such a negative attitude about our military defending our country.

Our local photo club (Brookings, OR) has for our next challenge (in two weeks) "composing using an 'S curve'. Your fence line is perfect (as where the fence leads the eye).

Bill, I really hope that you get good recommendations that will help your system. I will learn much from the answers you get.

My first suggestion is that you purchase a video recorder with a remote mic. That way your church's sound booth can provide it with sound(s) at an equal level (a single person talking, choir singing, musical instruments playing, etc.) Hook the combination of all of these sounds into the video camcorder's input. This will save hours of post processing for each one hour church service. (I now take the separate video and sound, remove the parts that don't add to the sermon, etc. and burn a master DVD for the Chapel's duplicator.)

My feeling is that you wish to have remote operation equipment (smooth operation while tilting and panning). If so that will cost more than the video camcorder. However, remote zooming comes built-in for some camcorders.

DVD quality is actually lower than HD that you get from a camcorder. While it is possible to record HD on a standard DVD (feature on a few but a small percentage of Blu-ray disk recorders, that feature only gives you about 16 minutes per standard single sided DVD disk. However most everyone has a DVD player and far fewer have a Blu-ray player. So my guess is that you wish to stay with 'standard def' for burning standard DVD's. Another reason is that the cost of Blu-ray disks are approx three to four times the cost of standard DVD disks.

I'm guessing here, but it might be your "video capture system" that might be what is causing your poor quality reproduction. Try using what comes out of your camera (you said your streaming quality is OK) to make your DVD's.

Hope my posting enlarges your thinking.

Good wishes on your research. I look forward to any and all comments that you get.

hahahaha..(didn't appear to be political) it turned a wingnut emailer into a video... seriously political

I meant to mean that frequently political statements are made with little or no truth in them. This video seemed to contain all truth. Maybe my being 'scared' pulled you into "my" making a political statement. While that wasn't my intention, I apologize.
