To all the Veterans who are actually hogs. I recognize some of the Hogs are Vets by their byline or avatar. Rather than saying thanks to the few I can recognize I thought I would thank all the vets who are Hogs. If not for you none of us would be here talking about photos, etc. I chase you down in parking lots, restaurants, etc. when you may where a hat identifying yourself or still in uniform.

Thank You All for your service.

Greg

I did a year with MACV in the Mekong delta in 1965-66.

In my opinion, a just war, badly run.

I spent 10 years Navy - 1954 - 64, Atlantic fleet.
Remembering what you Viet vets went thru upon coming home STILL turns my stomach as does Fonda and Kerry!

Thank you, CLF... As a Vietnam era vet, I thank you. There was an entirely different attitude toward the military back then. It was ugly... Happy that folks today recognize the sacrifices being made on their behalf.

First off, I love the responses one and all, Thank You.

I tried enlisting in the Navy and Air Force. Neither would take me in 66 because of the steel in my back (curvature, fusion and instrumentation). I worked for the Air Force at Elmendorf in Anchorage from the winter of 66 till fall winter of 67. I saw all my new made friends (some of them) leaving to go west. Saw the huge at the time C141. I had the run of the base both Elmendorf and Fort Richardson. I was the base currier for the exchange and carried money, etc. from the different exchanges back to the bank and payroll on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. 18 years old with a cool anywhere from $80K to $360K. I actually had a higher clearance than my AP escorts. When I went to remote exchanges (Radar installations) they got stopped at the gate and I was welcomed in. Went in one time after duty hours.

Was a great experience for myself and wish I had stayed in but the beaches and girls with a tan were calling me back to Florida. Almost became a sourdough. It takes three items to get there, fight a grizz, pee in the Yukon and sleep with an Eskimo (Inuit). I did all but one and that I will let you guess at. It is this experience in my young life that got me through but I feel I missed the real maturity builder, the armed forces.

So again, I thank all you Vets for allowing me to live in this country with you all.

Thank you for your recognition of veterans service. My avatar doesn't show it but I did my 20 years and retired. It was my choice and pleasure. Spent my time with the Aerospace Defense Command and the Air Training Command. Had a great career. My thanks goes out to all the other veterans for their service as well. Have a GREAT DAY!

Thanks for the shout-out for all the vets and your service also. I managed 3 years in the Army Signal corps during Vietnam and bless all the veterans who served, are serving or and gave their ultimate sacrifice.
