I am considering purchasing a lens "sold by Kellards (Kellards Photo & Electronics, 12 Harrison Ave, Brooklyn NY 11211) and fulfilled by Amazon". I am well aware of Amazon's protections (just ask my wife ;-)) for purchasers, but frankly, I have never heard of Kellards. Anybody have any experience with Kellards?

Anyone here actually OWN a green laser?

I do. It's invaluable for star gazing.

I don't point it a people, cars pets or planes or myself.

Interesting. I hadn't thought about stargazing and using green laser's instead of red. Our eyes are more sensitive to green.

Lasers aren't toys, keep them out of the hands of children.

I prefer horizontal video.

Watching vertical movies is like peeping through a keyhole, a highly restricted view.
This is fine for static photos as it concentrates your attention on the subject of the shot.
Viewing videos this way I have the constant uncomfortable feeling that I'm missing what is just to the left and right of the frame.
i.e. In real life your reaction time would have to be incredible to see, analyze and deal with anything appearing in that restricted viewing field.

Most of us see through two eyes which presents a more or less horizontal view. It's the natural (organic  ) way of seeing.

Hello everyone!!! I bought a Nikkor 24-70 2.8 that I've been using with a D600 and D810, when I use flash ( doesn't matter if it is the speed light or the camera flash ) and the lens at less than 50mm I get a huge black shadow in the pictures. It's not the hood as I did try with and without it... anybody knows what going on here? Thanks in advance!!!

It's the hood and/or the length of the lens.
The flash in a hot shoe is not high enough to avoid this problem.
The on board flash would be even worse.

Get an off camera cord and you or a helper can hand hold the flash further out,
or try a flash frame,
or use a screen, ceiling, wall, flash umbrella, to bounce the light off.

I have loved photography for many years & do still. I also love dry fly trout fishing. A few weeks ago fishing the Broadhead in PA, I caught a lovely brown trout on a barbless hook, dug into my waders for my Cannon 15, & stepped in a deep hole and my camera was soaked & waders filled. I was able to grab large boulder passing by. Yes, fish was returned safely to stream.

MY question, is there someone with Cannon G15 experience, having moved on to G16. I have acquired a Model 16; Decision made. I have noticed some differences between the 2 cameras. Have any followers comparative experience? Or do I get on with it and figure out the implications on my own. Trial & error may be a good teacher, john

I have a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS and I want to get a flash that will work properly on it. I don't have the money to invest ina a Canon flash so I am looking for an off brand that will work on the SX50 and be able to use the ETTL functions. Does anyone know of some suggestions that will definitely work on it? Is the SX50 flash shoe a standard Canon hot shoe or is it special?

Click on Accessories tab (mid page) and then Flash & Accessories in the left column.

As low as $70.00

Piccasa was recommended to me years ago and I was so upset when it immediately started to import ALL of my photos WITHOUT my input or permission , so I pulled the plug and stopped the entire process. I only wanted to post a few photos. What a screwed up site.....

But now you understand that Picasa wasn’t importing or duplicating copies of all your photos, it was searching the Hard Drive to catalogue image files so they were accessible from the program. Going into the photo folders you would find a 1 KB .ini file in each which would be updated when new photos were added.

Mine does not have the vents you show--it has a solid back and solid state hard drive. I do here something spinning once in a while but if air is coming out must be hidden in the hinge area.

If you hear something spinning, that would be a cooling fan since you have an SSD. Don't know your model but vents may be slots in the hinge or bottom edge areas.

I am using a macbook air and notice it sometimes seems hot where the charger plugs in.It has no ventilation ports at all so hard to blow it out.

R U Sure?

The MacBook Air does have a single fan to cool the entire system and it's not difficult to hear when spun up. It never gets as loud as the fan in the MacBook Pro but you're aware that it's working.

Air comes in and out of here

I have a two year old MBPro that after about 30 minutes of continuous use, seems to get very warm to the touch. I do use it as it is intended, i.e., on my lap most of the time.

You may be blocking some or all of the air vents in the bottom.

I've noticed that it seems to warm up even more quickly if I peruse the many links that UHH posters put into their posts, especially video links.

The CPU generates heat even as it idles and more heat as it runs programs. Videos and heavy linking make it run more or less flat out and generate a LOT of heat.

I previously owned two successive Windows laptops (Dell and Toshiba), both of which, after about two years, seemed to do the same thing and within weeks, both expired with dead motherboards. Both would have cost as much to fix as a new basic laptop would cost.

High heat will kill the CPU and/or the mother board. The CPU’s printed circuits lose their material through electromigration and eventually short out.

I'm concerned that the MBP may be repeating the previous laptops history. Do any other MBP owners here experience this or have experienced this?

My wife’s laptop was running slowly and hot. The cooling fan ran constantly at high speed but the volume of hot exhaust was low. The intake vents on the bottom were plugged with lint. Using a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment fixed the problem. I do this whenever a buildup is noticed.

Last week when we went on our whale watching cruise in Seward, I took this photo and a couple others like it. A mysterious round image appears in the photos and I have no idea what this is. I checked the lens on my FZ200 and it's clean. It appeared on three images, all taken in the same location. Doesn't appear on any other photos taken that day. Any ideas?

You can see the ghost image as a ball of light over Ryan's left shoulder in two of the images, and by his left leg in the other.

My two cents says it is a smudge, a smear, (fingerprint, etc.) lit up as it scatters the light entering the lens at that point. Notice that it appears (for all practical purposes) in exactly the same spot on all three shots if one rotates the vertical shot.
