My wife's computer "upgraded" to that moronic Windows 10. I have two new computers that came with W 10 installed and am considering buying an older OS that Is user friendly. Cortana is a HUGE waste of computer space as it never gives me a usable answer. I absolutely HATE Windows 10. I want a system that I do the additions to, not junk apps that Microsoft seems to think are so usefully needed. It takes ten operations to get to something that I could once click on immediately and then trying to change it affects other portions of the computer.

True. Americans were too obtuse to the fact that metric is much easier than imperial. When road signs were being posted in KMs and gasoline was sold by the liter, the stupid public objected and the metric system was discarded for the measurement of the length of a king's foot, distance from a thumb knuckle to the kin;s thumb tip. Who knows how they came up with pint and quart? Were those amounts that the king would pee into a pan?

Grandpa, the grammatically correct term is "I couldn't care less" as opposed to the ubiquitous "I could care less".

Windows Vista loads O.K. but I get the message "no internet discovered". I was using the wireless connection before with no problem. That is gone. I connected an ethernet cable from the router modem to the desktop and got the same message. No network discovery. My other computers work fine with either wireless or ethernet connections. Did running FixIt and then Norton 360 fry the internet card? I ordered a replacement card and will try to replace it myself.

Why do all the pics say "laying" instead of "lying"? "Al" is an ignoramus.

Ansel was an expert who knew angle, lighting, perspective, composition, framing and the combinations of aperture and shutter speed to create (in his minds eye) what he wanted to photograph (before) he took the picture. Few photographers have ALL those unique qualities. We, with only a few of them, take multiple shots and winnow the results after comparison (and Photoshop).

I will bet that most old enthusiasts started out as children with a roll of 120 film and a Brownie camera, anxiously awaiting the results from a developer about a week later. Then painting a low watt bulb red, buying cheap trays and chemicals and proudly developing their "art" in a darkened bathroom or cellar.

The polar ice cap has NOT shrunk but gotten larger. Mother Nature controls us, not the other way around. How did that cold land mass Greenland become named? The Vikings found it lush and suitable for farming. Look at it now.

When I bought my first rangefinder camera (newly minted M3 w/50 mm lens,) I thought "if I put the camera on a tripod and hold one of the binocular eyepieces to the lens, can I get a pic of something distant?" I tried it and focused thru the lens and got a few, not terrible shots on film. This encouraged me to splurge on some longer Leica lenses plus assorted other gear. Unfortunately, I left bachelorhood, had a baby girl and being near penniless, sold all my Leica equipment to pay obstetrician/hospital fees, etc. But that is a different story. As I age, I tend to digress more.

Great gift for the grandchild of choice. I don't think I can meet your fair asking price at this time. Wish you the best.....Joseph.....
