Could you mask the fishing boat and bring up a bit of detail in that Erich? I like boats and my eye just keeps looking for detail there.

Thanks, Frank. It was a quick indoor shot grabbed without any artificial lighting. The ISO was 8000 so quite grainy (5D Mk IV). Rather than attempt to reduce the grain I enhanced it in Capture One Pro and reduced saturation to 50% to give the effect.

I haven't tried a tinted background, this was an off the cuff capture coincidentally against a white wall. it's an idea, I will try adding various tints to see what looks good.
We adopted Lewis and his sister over 30 years ago and I was married to his mother for a while so, yes, I've had a lot of experience photographing dark skins.

I had no idea who is Chase Jarvis so I looked him up on Wiki and Google. I read he's had photographic accomplishments and is now an educator so I am wondering what was the context of his statement.
