Thanks for the info. She has a beautiful voice. Stardust, written by Hoagy Carmichael, was composed around 1927 - not very modern - heh???
Mark

The Postmodern Jukebox group takes modern songs and rearranges them. I included info on Allison Young just to demonstrate her voice. Look up “All About That Bass” by PMJ on Youtube

Mark,
Have you seen or heard of Post Modern Jukebox? They take modern songs and give them a 30’s and 40’s style arrangement. I saw them last month. Allison Young performed with them. Check out Allison Young “Stardust” on Youtube. Awesome voice I think.

Is that brown painted artificial turf? It looks strange to not see dirt flying when the kids are sliding.

Just a short series of a bald eagle soaring and banking over the water. Taken on the last day I saw eagles in any quantity around here. They have now returned back up north.

I really can't see the need for the 200-600mm lens as you can follow groups. I think the R6 with the 24-105mm would be sufficient.

In any event, use silent shutter. Even though cameras are allowed if you were to bring the 5D you had better not have that mirror slapping during a player's swing, but you probably know that.

Yeah, that’s why I may go just mirrorless. I know certain areas of the course you can’t get vey close to the players, like 12 green and 13 tee box.

I have a badge for Tuesday practice day at the Masters golf tournament in a couple days. Wondering if any of you have any experience at Augusta. They allow cameras on practice days. Can I bring in two cameras? One zoom, and one more wide angle. Right now I could take a Sony a9 with 200-600 and a Canon R6 with 24-105. I could rent a Canon 100-400 and go with one body and two lenses. I could also pull out my 5D Mark iv body for the 24-105 for more megapixels for landscape shots.
Any advice is welcome. Kind of a bucket list item for me.

This bald eagle was landing on the ice to sit and eat a fish but the ice had gotten thin enough that the ice would not support his weight and he fell through. The eagle sat in the water for almost a minute. Finally decided to up and fly out. I didn’t catch any shots of the eagle escaping the water but the final photo is that eagle flying. These are heavily cropped as it happened a ways away.

A fish for me!

That’s a dream sequence for BIF shooters.

Everything came together on this one. Right at me and good lighting. My wife says don’t you think you have enough eagle pictures? I always say I’m waiting for the perfect shot. That may be as good as I will ever get. But I’m not quitting.

Excellent series! Begs the question, how did the fish get on top of the ice?

This sequence was at Sunset Marina in Rock Island, Ill. This area is kind of a pond with one end opening to the Mississippi River. This pond starts to freeze in winter and as some fish die they float towards the surface. As the ice freezes thicker and thicker the dead fish get caught in different layers of the ice. In the spring as the ice melts from the top down the fish trapped in the upper layers are freed and lay on top of the deeper layers. Hope that makes sense.

I was lucky enough to capture this eagle picking a fish off the ice while it was coming straight at me. I was shooting at twenty frames per second so these ten successive frames must be one half of a second.

Great shots of the eagles. But are they being ‘baited’? I’ve never seen dead fish lying on top of the snow and ice except around my ice fishing hole. If people are throwing out fish to get a closer shot I wish you had disclosed it. This does not diminish the your good technical skills but it does change the ‘naturalness’ of the images in my opinion.

Actually I found out from a good source how the fish end up on the ice. There is fish kill in the winter time, especially as it starts to freeze over. Fish die from lowered oxygen levels and eventually float to the top. Once an ice layer forms these fish get caught in the thickening ice. It can get up to 8-12 inches thick. As the ice starts to melt these fish end up on top of the ice as the layer they were trapped in melts. So there you have it officially.
