This is my best Jupiter so far. Stacked 11 selected exposures out of 125 total. Seeing was terrible with the target bouncing all over the camera frame and shifting apparent focus constantly. Scope was my Celestron C11 mated with my ZWO camera. Stacking was with REGISTAX 6.

Comments welcome.

I was playing around waiting for Jupiter to clear the trees tonight and imaged this sequence of the jagged shadow in the large lunar crater.
Celestron C8 and Celestron CGEM, imaged with the Celestron 236C Cmos camera.

Really cool work Jim.

Summer help at Lowe’s.
Schedule is all over the place.

If I had to go back to work Lowe's is where I would want to be.

It’s much better than the one that Sky and Telescope links to .
Thank you for the compliment.
I have the desert thunderstorms for tonight and probably through tomorrow.
But I have Wednesday and Thursday off so maybe?
Jim

Thanks Jim, you said Wed and Thrus off??? Are you working again and I haven't heard???

This is processed with Autostakkert2 set for planetary center of gravity.
I stacked 70% of 9500 frames of a 2 minute AVI shot at 90fps.
I adjusted the wavelets in Registax6 and imported the resulting AVI into Photoshop CC.
I cropped the image and corrected the rotation to get the bands level before running Topax Noise reduction.
This is the resulting file.
Jim

They're getting better and better Jim, nicely done. Now we need a transition thru the 11" ??? What's the name of the app that shows you the transits of the moons and GRS???

This is one of the videos that I thought was going to be awful because I couldn't see details well enough to decide if I was in focus.
It appears that I was darn close. Movement of the image on my screen was horrible.
I ran this through Autostakkert2 stacking 10% of 8900 frames and tweaked wavelets in Registax.
Opened that TIFF in Photoshop to adjust white balance and saved it as PNG.
This is the uncropped image.
Here tis, I am pleased.
Jim

I'm glad to see that the 11" works out so well. A great shot Jim.

A couple of shots from this evening. Looks like it is going to be a gorgeous night for imaging (after two days of cloud and rain)!

Enjoy!

Very nicely done Brian.
We are still waiting for a break from the Marine Layer on the Calif Coast.

Thank you Craig.
I wasn’t sure how well that was going to work out.
Jim

I think it took a trained eye to make it out.

I couldn’t get a good focus but it didn’t help changing scopes.
I processed a few and they are on par with this shot so I could have continued.
Live and learn.

I really like the Io progression shots you did at your Flickr account.

Nice work Brian and I can't figure out what HLVG_LR is in your procedure list above each photo.

IC 2574 was discovered by Edwin Coddington in 1898 and, although first classified as a nebula, is actually a dwarf irregular galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. It consists of several blob-like collections of stars. IC 2574 is located about 12 million light-years away and belongs to the Messier 81 group of galaxies.

I've attempted this object at least twice before without much success. This is definitely my best result to this point! It would have been even better had I used low gain on the camera instead of medium gain which resulted in noise and horizontal banding.

Nicely done Brian. North of the border you get some mighty fine skies.

I imaged with my 11" SCT for 8 sessions and did not like the results and dropped to the 8" SCT.
I started off imaging Jupiter and had used an app that gave me the red spot transit times but for some reason last night they were off.
These images are from the 8" scope.

That's some fine work Jim. They're as good as a 8" SCT can possibly get. Too bad the 11" didn't work out, were the shots just to washed out???
