IC 2574 was discovered by Edwin Coddington in 1898 and, although first classified as a nebula, is actually a dwarf irregular galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. It consists of several blob-like collections of stars. IC 2574 is located about 12 million light-years away and belongs to the Messier 81 group of galaxies.
I've attempted this object at least twice before without much success. This is definitely my best result to this point! It would have been even better had I used low gain on the camera instead of medium gain which resulted in noise and horizontal banding.
ATIK Color Horizon (OSC) camera and Hutech HEUIB-II filter with a Sky-Watcher 190 Mak-Newt on a Celestron CGEM DX mount, unguided.
Processed in PixInsight, Photoshop and Lightroom.
Enjoy!

Beautiful Brian!
You sure are pulling out all the stops on that Horizon Camera!
I expected the CMOS to come of age, and I think you are definitely showing it has.
I almost had fun last night. Got some imaging, but clouded out about 11:45 PM. Rats!

I got out under the stars again last night. The sky was so dark I could see the Virgo Galaxy Cluster with the naked eye!!
Shot four galaxies over the span of two hours. Redid the Whale and Hockey Stick galaxies with Low Gain then added the Sunflower and a 'clump' of galaxies around M86. Our St. Bernard took me for walks between during sessions... Perfect night!!

Since I am becoming somewhat stalled, and therein lies the danger for me, boredom... I'm trying to change, adjust, and refine my techniques.
If one was to so
vastly stretch the imagination to say I have
any form of technique...
(I envision
Ferdinand the Bull tip-toeing through a China Shop... but I digress.)
But once I've shot and enjoyed various Heavenly Bodies, there is only refinement left.
A Grandma on the Ex-wife #1's side referred to me as a diamond in the rough sometimes.
Scratching at the glass of established practices...
Or sand on a toilet paper roll...
LOL!

Nicely done Brian. North of the border you get some mighty fine skies.
