The best of the best. Just put one up to your eye.
Nothing like it.

Agree, but way over budget if the Df is $1000 too high.

Still, the modern digital M cameras are a delight. He M Monochrom is my primary camera, with 35mm f/2.5 Summarit and 50mm f/2 Summicron lenses, it makes a very small, super nice and disgustingly expensive kit.

I also just picked up a silver Df. It's not in the same league of old-school feel as the Leica, but it's still the closest you can get in an SLR and oh that magic D4 sensor.

My advice is to scrimp and save a bit more while used Df prices simultaneously drop a bit. From what the OP said, Df is really the best option. I love mine, and my Leica spends a lot more time in the cabinet since buying it. B

Will G lenses work in shutter priority on the FA?

I've already shit with a friend's Df and liked it for the most part. Not as ergonomic as the Canon 6D I had, but I like retro and still shoot film (Minolta XE-7), so with this I can pick up an old Nikkormat or FM and shoot both with the same glass.

Got the 35 from B&H in BGN condition (hopefully won't have to return) and the 105 from a guy on Leicaplace. Great deal on the Df, $2300 for the kit, less than 500 clicks. Would prefer the black, but price was too good to pass up. Bought on Fred Miranda forum.

I just ordered a used silver Df with the SE 50 f/1.8, should have it Wednesday. Also ordered a used Nikon 24-120 f/4 VR and a pair of vintage primes, a 35mm f/2 O Nikkor (AI'd, from the mid 1960s) and an AI'd 105mm f/2.5 P Nikkor (original Sonnar formula) from the early 1960s. I imagine those two vintage primes will get the most use, but travel will probably go auto-focus only.

Some of us pay ALOT to not have all of those features. My camera doesn't even shoot color (Leica M Monochrom) and the thing couldn't be simpler to use. Of course i had to sell my Harley-Davidson to pay for it.

ISO 800 should be sufficient for low light outdoor daytime (like deep Forrest) at f/4 with a fast shutter speed.

If you could have any camera and any lens what would it be and why?

Leica M Monochrom and a Vintage Carl Zeiss 5cm f/1.5 Sonnar converted to LTM and optimized for wide-open.

Oh wait, I already have those.

Caddy and Chevy are the same (General Motors) quality. Leica and Canikon however are entirely different.

Hey Friends,

We all are aware of this unending war between the brands and the quality.

As I know, all these brands, be it Leica, Hasselblad, Nikon, Canon and so on, have compromised on the image quality when compared to their analog predecessors.

Leica, being in a league of its own, is still better when it is compared to Nikon or Canon (although, I have been a Nikonian all my life) when it comes to issues like sharpness, distortion and all.

But, we also know that Leica is quite a burn in the pocket.

Lately, I have been contemplating to buy the Leica Monochrom, both to OWN a Leica and to have a journey back to the pleasure of Black and White photography.

I would like to know from all you experts as to whether the investment in a Leica in the digital era is worth "the burn" ?
Hey Friends, br br We all are aware of this unend... (show quote)

The Monochrom is worth every penny, and it does extremely well with old and new glass.

Not all liberals are anti-gun, and not all gun owners are religious.

I have a CCW and am an extremely accurate shot, but I most definitely NOT conservative or Christian.

If someone enters my house, I will defend myself. If somehow I can't defend myself, I may call for help, but I certainly won't pray.
