Thanks much for the endorsement but I use a Canon 300 f4 with a 1.4 extender on a 7D for most of my wildlife shots.
I also have a 70-200 2.8 but I don't own the 100-400.

BTW, I put up an alligator crunching a crab for today's blog post. :)

Looking for a longer lense

The 100-400 does very well.
Check out Swamp Gator's pics. It's the one he mainly uses.
I use a 70-200 2.8 IS with a 2x and a 300 2.8 IS.
