This is really great. This is probably a Rufous Hummingbird, but it could be an Allen's Humming Bird. Brown back=Rufous, green back=Allen's. At least that's what my books say. They are visiting my back yard now, along with others, here in San Diego County!

Nice job. It looks like I need to head down to the flood control channel in stead of Hula Vista and south bay.

Thanks for all the comments on this, not sure what the animal being eaten is.
The pictures are taken in Belize on a turtle grass mud flat.
I am thinking that the food is some sort of worm or eel.
Here is another example, they seem to be plentiful in supply.

Because of the amount of water where you took your shots it sounds more likely that these could be juvenile American eels. A check on google indicates that Burton's legless lizard also occurs in Belize. The little bit I could find indicates they are found in drier areas ground litter (like my back yard) but those in your pictures sure look like the ones we have in Socal.

That food is a legless lizard. It looks different than the ones I find in my back yard so I don't exactly what kind it is.

These are really great and look like travel pamphlet material. Does the Ferris wheel run all night, or am I imagining that I see one?

Very nice! It's the kind of shot I always hope for, and sometimes get. Looks like it's time to head over the hill again.

You are welcome. In a previous job I had I came in contact with several raptors along with other wildlife. Of course this was before I could afford to get into photography!! Such is life!

I think what you are seeing is the birds second foot. They often sit with one leg up. If you look at the shot of the bird in flight you will see both legs extended and no evidence of any wound or otherwise on the breast.

I have the Tamron SP90f2.8 for my crop sensor camera and love it. Weather sealed, sharp, fast auto focus. The longer focal length allows for greater distance from subject, so better for bug shots. Also good portrait focal length.

A little bit off subject, but, the three subject image you included was really great and to my old eyes, very sharp. If I lost my two Nikon micros I would seriously consider the Tamron lens!

Very nice, but I think she may be insisting he go get the last few sticks she saw before any thing else goes on!

I do believe the answer is in your cameras shooting menu where you can set different options.

Super shots! We have a pair that nest in our neighborhood but don't get that close. Keep up the good work.

It helped that there were several birds at the feeders we still have out so the hungry ones have to wait in line. Back button focus and it's like shooting fish in a barrel!

If they were not hovering in pretty much the same spot I would not had the chances I got. There was just enough tension to assist holding the camera and lens. At 79 I'm really not into holding a 200-500 lens on a d810 for more than a minute or so. This was my first try and I think it turned out pretty well. Now I have to learn how to "light up" the flashy colors.
