I'm struggling with it too. What is that thing? Does not look like any worm I know of. Looks like it has eyes and a mouth but no nose. The "body" looks a little like a legless or glass lizard. Eel? Not even sure of the Phylum (my biology degree is not helping me here).

Nothing really odd about the Egret.

If you really enlarge the head of dinner you can see the egg beak and the nostrils. Yup newly hatched snake is my guess.
