I have had really good luck buying from Best Buy. An employee clued me in on the "open box" lenses and cameras (on the website) that you can occasionally find on their website. You can get good deals if you're not in a hurry, plus they have 12 or more months, 0% interest if you have their card.
Thanks for that information!!
So is the Tamron 150-600 for Sony not a direct fit for A6000 body? I'd like longer reach for wildlife too but I'm becoming confused the more I read.
Try ISO 200, then 400 depending on light. I wouldn't go much higher.
Yes, so I could use my Pentax K-1000!
Thank you for your comments. I'm learning more than I expected when starting this string. Snfapm1983 is combination of my fathers initials my mothers initials
mine (Paul M) and the year I married my beautiful wife. I can't forget my username!
I will post shots at some point, still shooting in jpeg and am really fighting myself regarding post processing. I like to see the image as shot, but am starting to see to "light" re: photoshop, etc.
I've been a member for a relatively short period of time but I have been an enthusiastic reader of numerous posts and links. There seems to be a wealth of information on this site, from all walks of photography.
I consider myself an amateur and have no ambition to join those in the professional ranks, but never want to stop learning. My question, which is very broad I'll admit, is what is most important to you? Is it having the best equipment, the perfect scene/light/ subject, perfecting settings, having your camera with you in case, or is something as simple (as it is to me) just to be with your camera and capturing a keeper shot?
Thank you.
Or the Streamlight Strion LED. It is a tactical light, extremely bright, about 6" long and 3/4" in diameter. It is rechargeable and comes with an charger that takes a 12vdc cord/ car charging plug or a 110vac cord.
This is slightly larger than a AA style flashlight but is very durable/ waterproof, etc. I have 2, one in my nightstand and the other in my vehicle.
Highly recommend if you want quality not cheap crap.
I use a Streamlight Jr. every day. Very durable and extremely bright. It uses 2-AA batteries.
If your teaching would pick one kid's head up from their iPhone and look at the world instead, it should be enough gratification. It's a different world due to smart phones but I think there's something missing in a lot of young lives. Learning to enjoy Photography may help!
Are you referring to the Alison.com course? I am taking it with no issues.
To piggy back on rappers post. Would a Yongnuo 560 IV be a reasonable alternative even though it is not TTL? I'm sifting through posts looking for that advice as well as manual flash tutorials. Thanks.
Sony has the Play Memories app which has that feature and more for the a6000.

Nice collection of photos from the show. However, I have this thing about people who show up with their late model Corvette or new age Muscle car at such a show. If I want to gaze at them I can always go to a dealer's lot! Guess I may be an old car snob.
Old thread I know but couldn't resist. I couldn't agree more with Streetrodder. Another old car snob here who took 4 years to restore a 50 year old car only to see guys with new Challengers, Corvettes, etc. pull in like they've got show cars or a classic muscle car. Most legit car shows have cut off dates but some do not, especially if the money goes to charity. I guess I'm ok with that, but I still think they should be parked separately.
As an owner of several classic cars, please be respectful and ask permission before touching any part of the car. I don't know how many times people run their hand down a fender or even opened doors, etc. without saying anything. Most guys will gladly open doors or hoods for you just ask first! It also goes without saying that you should be aware of where your equipment or gear bag is as not to cause damage.
Barrett Jackson is awesome and you'll see some amazing stuff. Jealous that I'm not going.
