Your mushrooms never fail to please dsturr. Beautifully processed as always. Would you feel like describing your creative process for the image? I'm sure it would be of interest to many of us.

Seconded!

Thanks, Heather. Not at all. If we all liked the same thing it would be a boring old world. I appreciate your input.

Yes, there is a lot of love there even more now that Lexi has come along. This is Lexi with Lucy, her very proud mum...

I wish the flower didn't have the thorn in front of it, though. If my own plant, I'd be tempted to snip off the offender

Thanks for your comments, Linda. To be honest I was so wrapped up in getting the technics of the shot right I didn't notice that thorn until afterwards. However, it would have been more than my life is worth to have mutilated one of Yolanda's pet cacti! I could have moved position perhaps.

Yes, that caught my eye too. Looking forward to the EOS 5DS R II now!

I wonder if Nikon is thinking that 75MP will rival medium format cameras and be an option?

The MP is a typo I think. In my PetaPxel link above it is shown as 45.75 which is close to the canon EOS 5DS/R

I am sorry, but there is something odd about their complexion and I should know too.

Just below Lewis's arm looks over exposed. Only my opinion (smile).

Thanks for commenting Heather. The 'overexposure' is part of a white vignette that doesn't show at the top or sides because of the light background. I have removed it in other versions.

I guess one either likes or dislikes the halftone complexion. For me, it works.

I should have masked-out the sky when I applied the texture methinks - and it does work quite well in plain sepia tones RG. Got a bit carried away! Thanks for your guidance, it's appreciated.

I like the picture but yes, I like the tones on land but you are right, mask the sky. Another idea: just take the whole frame down to halftone and then up the contrast a bit; I wonder how that would look.

Lovely shapes and tones. I am fascinated by fungi. Great shot!

I often gaze at old buildings like this one and try to imagine it as a living home. What a marvellous view. I love the picture.

I have not done any macro work before so I did my first trial this afternoon with a macro lens I bought recently. I have a cheap rail bought from eBay but the ball head it was attached to wasn't very stable with the setup so I don't think the tiny cactus flower is as sharp as it could be. I want to get a geared head to try next week. Anyway it's not too bad I think and I'd be grateful for any pointers. It was taken in ambient light, no flash, manual focus.

I'm working on a portfolio called "Paternity". I like this image a lot. Lewis has charisma and its in the photo powering the image. I like the plain white background (symbolizing purity?) and desaturated color. For me the grain is just OK, I think the graininess works but, again, for me, maybe a tiny bit less. Very nice image, thanks for sharing.

Thanks very much. I will play with the grain settings I used.

It says your online now over in Spain. Wow. Insomnia? I understand.

6.30pm here in Seville so just about to take our 4 dogs for their evening run and then prepare dinner. Prawn salad today as the temperature is 32C (90F) at the moment.

Just for fun and to check how much boat detail really is contained in the RAW file....

Just a quick try. Capture One Pro 10. 3 layers: Boat, Sky (graduated), Sea (fill). Levelled horizon and removed obvious spots. sharpened a bit.

Oh, I also thought that it was better not to crop. I think the full shot has more depth.

I think that is one of the major issues with this photo. There just is not much detail there.

Is the original RAW or jpeg?
