It depends on how much sleep you get or need, and what time you need to be up or wake up. I live in the Pacific Northwest but seem to be working on East Coast time for wake up or sleep. Never lived there or plan on retiring there but who knows...

It appears that many of the big companies have lost sight of customer service. Typically those who provide services that you can't get elsewhere and where you only have limited choices. Over the years I have noticed only new customers get the great deals and long-time customers watch their bills continue to climb without the service getting better. Sometimes I get lucky and can wrap a problem with one of the companies that come out in my favor or takes a short time. So far Amazon has the best customer service and yes I pay for Prime. Oh then there is the matter we all pay in advance trusting that we get good service; only at brick-and-mortar stores do we pay for items and walk out with them.

There are enough engineer-entrepreneurs — and venture capitalists throwing money at them — to produce some innovative solutions. The best paradigm shifts seem to come from outside of existing industries, or just far enough outside existing markets to see a new solution.

The key is to do something that is renewable, cheap, clean, and efficient. We went to the moon and we're going back. We can find better ways to produce and store and transport energy.

I like your point, ...throwing money at them... and it's either private investment or our tax dollars. It's interesting that the fear that control of where our tax dollars fund is controlled by general America through our elected politicians rather than capitalists. When people demand great stewardship of our country and our funding then things will change for what I see as better. Some of the things the Hippies advocated in the sixties make sense like we are all connected (quantum mechanics proves this), Power to the people, and free love (sometimes that happens) A huge issue today is fantasy and fact both start with an f. We now live in a society where part of some people believe they have a right to see fantasy as fact or fact as fantasy.

The problem with hydrogen as a passenger vehicle fuel is distribution.

Wind and solar are cheap and cost effective and we already have a distribution system in place although it does need updating.

Japan is different than the US as it is smaller, but even they never solved the distribution challenges even after a huge effort.

Wind and solar are cost-effective? I keep seeing solar being put on homes and it is expensive to install and hope the people installing it have a new roof prior because you will need to remove the soar prior to re-roofing. I have worked on solar roof panels in the past and know if the system is more than five years old the parts are not available.

Everything I have read about wind power is hugely expensive to install and maintain. The tidal generation has been on the market for many years but lacks political backing.

Fusion power is a great answer yet political backing seems lacking from one political group that backs electric cars, wind, and solar while another political backing does not seem to back it because it could potentially remove profit from the table.

It seems that we should support the people of America rather than a social construct (Capitalism) that is all about making money or pushing a political agenda (either of the two we have to choose from.)

I did go to the site and was really disappointed with the Chat Bot. When asked pointed questions it replied, "Unknown" The disappointing part is that it does not use logic or when logic is applied in asking it questions it comes back with, "Unknown". If you are curious ask pointed questions and see where that takes you. Its also interesting it makes the statement that it does not have opinions yet it quotes information that contains human opinions that it produces and accurate statements that are not based on science. We have a calculator that adds 2 + 2 = 5, Im not great at math but it should equal 4.

Jerry,
Your cable or internet provider is activating your new modem in their system. If you get one from the company and rent it they have already activated it. Comcast and Xfinity are what I have in my area would rather have me use their equipment but I have my own. When they corporate you are giving them the model number, serial, and Mac address so they can activate it on your end. Typically you have minimum internet speed on your modem when you hook it up so you have access but it's really slow. When they activate on their end you will be able to access what service you have paid for. Oh, and they don't need your passwords to get into your router If you own your own router it's yours along with passwords. You have whatever speed is at your location but the company limits what your device is authorized to get depending on your service.

It great cartoon, Love the look on the dog's face (what who me?) The grandkid sees it as luck to be able to stay home; When he grows up and moves out he hopefully will understand that life is all about choices and outcomes. Most of my friends have retired and I am getting close, I've noticed the successful ones are busier and happier than when they were working. Those who don't move, exercise, and keep their mind sharp don't live long.

We don't know what we don't know. For the moment it seems that science is stranger than science fiction. If we were to take modern entertainment systems, cell phones, and computers and show them to Leonardo da Vinci it would seem like magic, some may have thought devil's work. It's science and technology but for him would be some 520 years in the future. For us, that would be like the year 2543; can you imagine?

Artists who paint their eyes and mind are the film or chip and they transfer to canvas. We don't have issues with that but with photographers? Photographers used to make changes in the darkroom and today we are closer to what painters can achieve, closer to what our mind sees.

I spent almost eight years working for public transportation in the area I lived. It's a great idea in theory but more costly than it's worth. With telework and people that can be able to live anywhere and do their job the idea of mass transit only works where there are large populations. I was required to use transit when I worked for one of the companies and the other I was strongly suggested to use it. The one where required I used to have a 3 to 4-hour transit each day or 2 hours or less if I drove. When I used the bus it was longer. One of these authorities found that if they buy and expand ride-share vans rather than buses it is more cost effective and it has over a 98% use rate. When I did have to travel to the office and people who could telework the freeways were not crowded and travel time was much less. Businesses wanted to see people in the office. So the problems could be fixed if Big businesses and government offices would go back to those who can telework. I am half in the office and half the time teleworking. Traffic is back to pre-covid and it's a mess. I imagine our fuel usage was much less during the covid-19 shut down but because so many businesses want to go back to the old standard we are where we are.

It's interesting that I get a text, email, and phone call to check-in. With one place if I check in by one method or the other their systems can see that I checked in. At another facility even though I have checked in by text or email and not by phone I have to check in all over again at the front desk. I love technology when it works and not so much when it doesn't.

Thought about being polite. It's a great idea. Watched the movie Top Gun Maverick. Maverick never learned, to keep his head down and keep his mouth shut. At 67 I still haven't and it comes with a steep price. Fortunately for him, he had a wingman who could and was promoted throughout the years and continued to help him. ICE told him it was time to let go, and I understand Maverick's answer to him, that he did not know how. Of course, it's Hollywood, it had a happy ending even for Maverick but then again I like happy endings.

I gave a local charity a coffee mug that said, "Faith" on the front. I bought it recently and thought I would give it another try. It went to the right place. About, "#6 Men have 2 motivations: hunger and hanky panky, and they can't tell them apart. If you see a gleam in his eyes, make him a sandwich." Yes, we can tell them apart and if we are hungry we can make our own sandwiches but it's great to share the load. Hanky panky takes two. If you see a gleam in their eyes it's not for a sandwich. At 67 this is not the retirement that I am looking for and perhaps that's why I am still working.
