it does have a quiet mode, I was just curious if others were the same as mine. It doesn't have to be THAT quiet.

for you owners of the d7100 and d750- is the shutter louder on your 750?
Just got my 750 Friday, and I think it is louder than my 7100, not a bunch but noticeable. I know Nikons aren't quiet. Any comments? It is liveable for sure.

What are the benefits of using an ND filter

if it's graduated like we used for film, you can balance the highlights/shadows in a scene. I still have mine in my camera bag.

I was being sarcastic. Using the analogy of people who like .jpg' as better than RAW.

For the record, I only shoot RAW.
You can't just open a RAW and save it as a .jpg, it needs to be cooked and seasoned.

I like to cook.
I don't let my camera cook.

I am looking at a 24-70mm 2.8 Lense for a Nikon D750 and comparinging the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM to the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR

24-70mm f/2.8G. Sigma is almost 1/2 the Nikon price. Any advise?

you could always buy at Amazon and give it a try, if you don't like it send it back under 30 days no problem.

I had just about made up my mind to get a D 750...now I wonder :?:

I'm in the same boat, if noise is not a problem I may go that way, will have to sell the 24-120 to get something wider. I'm within a month or two of getting the 750.

For years I have tried to find the type of gloves my father used when hunting in order to keep my hands and fingers warm. They had an index finger with a hole in it to stick your finger out of when pulling the trigger. I wanted similar when taking pictures in winter, particularly Christmas lights.

At last my cries have been heard: both B&H and Amazon have "shooting gloves". I think B&H has a better selection. I bought a pair. They have the necessary index finger opening but on both hands to accommodate left handers. They also have magnets in the hands to help holding metal cameras or other equipment.

I bought mine at Rocky Boots a few years ago, they are hunting mittens that the entire mitten slips back to reveal thin gloves underneath that enables me to set any controls so my fingers are always covered, there is a zippered pouch on the top to install the small hand warmer packs. I've been out all day below zero with no problem in any way. After I shoot I pull the mittens back over to keep warm till the next stop of my hike.

I did a search on this before I started but can't figure out the right combination of words to use to target what I am looking for.

I am at the beginning stages of discovering the process of using the RAW files versus SOOC JPG's for PP. I have and use Paintshop Pro X6 extensively for PP and realize there is a Camera RAW module that fits neatly in with the workflow.

I was using Nikon's View NX2, however I have lost a .dll file in connection with Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 module which got screwed up along the way. This software will not load anymore because of the missing .dll

With viewNX2 I used the ability to create additional tif files with the EV adjuster within the software, which PPS does not have, or at least I don't think it has.

With all that said is there something out there better than the PaintShop Pro raw converter. All of the other adjustment are and can be made in PSP. Also have the full complement of NIK filters which I use extensively. PSP X8 comes with AfterShot 2 but have not upgraded because X8 versus X6 didn't seem like there was much. If AfterShot 2 is that much better than CameraRaw Lab, this would give me the incentive to upgrade.

I am not ready to make the Photoshop CC leap yet.

Looking for some guidance and experiences here for my journey into to RAW to final output.

I use ACDsee Pro 7 but 9 is out with full function trial. Very user friendly and does a great job. I couple it with PSP. I tried Lightroom but not user friendly enough for me.

I’m glad that I have finally gotten old (approaching 72). I like seeing advances and discoveries in technology, science, and astronomy. But I also noticed something else.

When I was a teenager watching TV and movies, I would see various actors who were children, young, middle aged, and old. That’s just the way it was. As time went on, I’d see someone in a movie who looked familiar. Then I realized it was a former young actor - now in his 70's. Wow! What happened? Child actors became adults, and mature actors aged and died. When I was younger, everyone seemed to remain at about the same age. Now I see beautiful young people almost unrecognizable as senior citizens. It’s only by living long enough that we are able to see other people aging along with us.

Just passing along some random observations.

All aspects of photography are a joy for me. I have even learned that if I missed the shot, such as of an eagle diving for a fish, I can be thankful I was there for the experience.

"Getting it right in camera" is typically more about getting the exposure and composition right to avoid trying to "FIX" it in PP. Most everyone knows to always leave a little extra around the edges so the image can be cropped to fit standard print sizes like 8x10 or 11x14 which do not conform to the 3:2 proportions of the Full Frame and APS-C sensors.

It has a glass LCD protector, battery, strap and new style charger. English manual and the David Busch field guide. I used it for family portraits and weddings plus general landscapes the last few years. I have an older kit
18-70 or the Sigma 17-70 2.8-4.0 macro I could bundle. Scraping together funds for a D750. Kel price in the $470.00 range, asking $450.00 body only, $ 600.00 with kit lens or $ 750.00 with the Sigma. One 16 GB 400x Lexar Professional card thrown into the mix.

Replying to the rest of your reply, duh!. I know all about the misnomers, actual image projected ect.etc... the whole point is not always having the time to do Post cropping after a game. If I were going for an 810, I'd wait till I could afford the D4 along with 600mm glass.
Not worried about the losing reach cause I can always crop the D750 shots with no issues...if I have the time. I have the 7000 which will be sold and $$$ put toward a replacement. Something I can use and not get frustrated over.
