Faststone is what you are looking for. It will even identify your RAW files. Try it, you'll like it.

I second the recommendation for Faststone. Lots of great features, and easy to use. Even as a Lightroom/Photoshop
user, I still use it fairly often.

Gimp is quite the opposite. No less intimidating to newcomers than Photoshop.

As I mentioned in an earlier post I tried storing photo files on M Discs but was not successful using two different writers without success and gave up. I think the problem was with the software and have read in reviews this is a common problem with this technology. Can anyone tell me what hardware - software combination they've use for this successfully? Thanks.

You cannot go wrong with ImgBurn. Simple and reliable, and free too.

When I deliver Blu-Ray video discs to clients, I use M-Discs exclusively. Best optical media currently available. For my video and photos, I rotate at least three drive backup drives, including a Raid NAS, and one off site. Using discs for archiving not only has the problems mentioned above, its a pain in the butt. Drives are cheap. Get several.

Recently ran across this one on Amazon. This thread reminded me that I wanted to give one a try. I do like that it's not necessary to stick Velcro goo to the flash to mount it.

I've owned two Tamron lenses, and I don't think I'd buy another.

Thanks for the reply.

FYI Here's a link to the Canon Date Code

The body looks very good, how about the glass? Rubs, color change, dust, etc?

I'm curious about the Vello hood --- usually B&H recertified has the Canon accessories (or at least the caps and hood)

Thanks

The glass is excellent. It originally arrived with the Canon hood. It was loose, and I complained to B&H. They sent the Vello hood at no charge.

I have the 1.4II, and the focus is slowed a bit, but still works. I've used a Canon 2.0 tele, and AF still works, but is less sure, and even slower.

Not the original owner, but purchased it as recertified from B&H last year. There is no simple date code on this one, just the serial. I believe there's a way to decode it. Date code is 1102.

I have the same lens, and bought a Viltrox converter. Sharpness was diminished, and the stabilization did not work correctly. Replaced it with a Canon, and will not make that mistake again.

That is one heck of a deal! I switched to mirrorless earlier this year. Cutting the weight and size in half alone is such a pleasure.

A few tiny nicks on the exterior, but the glass is excellent. IS and AF work as they should.
This has been a wonderful lens. The only reason I'm selling it is that I'm moving to another
format.

Express shipping is included, and payment may be made via Square.

Good advice.
Would add...make sure you have enough distance between the subject and the background so the light falloff can occur. Even with a black background, you can get shadows or washout if there is not enough distance.

Great advice. I've done many such shoots, and have noticed that people tend to back up against the backdrop unless you tell them otherwise. I make a small mark with gaffer tape, and ask them to stand there.

I have used Vegas Pro and previous versions since Sony Vegas #4. Love the program, easy to use and gives great results.

Vegas Pro is outstanding, and I've used it for years. For many, Vegas Movie Studio will be all you need. I'd easily take that over Premiere Elements any day.
