I need help in finding a good, simple photo editing program. I have had to buy a new computer with Windows 10 and my old programs will not work on it. I loved the simplicity of the old Olympus "Camedia" program which I used for years. The free program that comes with Windows 10 is not as good as the 7 was and will not add text or be flexible in the printing.

I need to "adjust" light, color, sharpen, crop & rotate, add text, and rename. I need to be able to print 12 or 20 to a page with the names on each photo.

I've tried Adobe "Lightroom". You can not add text with it and it is a monthly charge - not free or one time purchase.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Take a look at

https://www.gimp.org/

Warning: It may not be as simple as you want.

You might look at Irfanview, along with the plugins for it.

Gimp has one of the most convoluted menu systems I've ever seen. It seemed to be a major task just finding how to get to what I wanted to do. I gave up on it some time ago.

Golly Gee... My sister has been on Windows 10 for two years and uses Camedia.... Horrible program in my book, but she's stuck on it. It came with her old Olympus camera. I know it works. In fact, I consult on computers, and have yet (personally) to see a 32 bit, or older software that does not work in the "compatibility" mode in Windows 10.

People who say older programs don't work, for the most part are listening to bad advice and not trying hard enough to use the software they know best, or are hooked on, are just not being creative and open-minded. Have you actually tried to load your Camedia, or go to Olympus and see if it's still available as an install file?

I just loaded it on my Sisters new Windows 10 computer from her old disk she got with her camera. This is her second Windows 10 Machine.

Windows 10 is far more forgiving than most people think. Also more stable than any previous version of Windows, which I taught at our local community college for 24 years, (or Since Windows 3.0)

Thank you. It does look more complicated but at least you can add text.

Picasa is still available even it was not supported by Google any more, it meets your need. I have it on my old W-10 laptop, and I reinstalled on my new W-10 laptop with no problem. Check free download on the web-site.

Honestly, when I want to add text, I usually just use Paint. I don't find the gimp menu system to be any more complicated than PhotoShop.

I have been using Camedia 2.5 for years and it shuts down when I try to open it and I have not been able to update/upgrade it. Does your sister have version 4? Do you think I have to have the later version for it to work on Windows 10?

I think I replied to the wrong person....sorry about that.

Did your sister have Camedia 4? I have 2.5 and it closes down every time I try to open in Windows 10. Do I need to have a later version?

photoshop elements? you can buy used disks on ebay fairly cheap. Then when you are ready you can go for the full blown photoshop and you'll know most of the controls.

Why not then use the program for Windows 7 and run it in compatibility mode on Windows 10? Have you tried that?

Faststone is what you are looking for. It will even identify your RAW files. Try it, you'll like it.
