Good for you! I'm glad to know this. It really irritates me when they rename or name some thing wrong. They tried to do that to some historic property in our family. Our family owned it from 1852 to 2000. The business was operated by my ancestors until my grandfather sold the business to a local man in 1962 who then changed the name and rented the property from our family until about 1985. I sold the 1/4 block with two historic properties in 2000 to the local millionaire who restored them. They wanted to name the property after the guy who bought my grandfathers business who never even owned the property. They have done this with several properties, we need locals on this board. Anyway...the government or anyone else should not be able to do this because there are important and historical reasons property, etc, are named as they are and shouldn't be forgotten!

Apparently he's found a good hunting spot in my back yard finding worms and bugs.
Cloudy and light rain gave me a chance up up the ISO to 3200. Still learning to sharpen and reduce noise using LR4.
C&C welcome.

To bring out surface texture of your subject you need light to hit it at an oblique angle. That is, the light must rake across the surface. If the light strikes the surface straight on, it will tend to flatten your subject. Here are some examples. In the first one, the oblique lighting was already there. In the other two, I used a remote flash handheld at an oblique angle to get the effect. The tombstone needed flash anyway because it was on the side opposite the afternoon sun.

Thanks for the tip!

Enchanting! Love the carousel! Super memories. My grandfather loved them also. They put one in our mall many years ago. My grandfather was in his 80's and we rode the carousel. Happiness wouldn't begin to describe how much it meant to him. Thanks for posting!

Very nice! The first one would make a great poster. The second is really heart touching. I love to see mothers/parents teaching their children. Very special moment.

Went back up to Martinsville and took copies of the photos to Bob. I thought he was going to cry. He was so appreciative and couldn't believe how great his tomatoes looked. He had some stripes, which are still non acidic but are a yellow with red strips and turn into a blush. They are sweet and very flavorful. He gave me some of those. Really sweet man. These are the times when photography has such great, deep rewards.
