Turn the camera on the lens engages. The camera and lens must be connected.

I have had one of those lenses for 10 years, and it always has rattled a little depending on how I held it. I suspect that it may be the something to do with the image stabilization. Mine has worked just fine all of these years. I would suggest you try it and see if it works OK before going through the return process.

There should be no negotiate with seller and ebay as the lens was as advertised. The issue was explained to you my several people and sourced from a photo internet site. If you try to send it back or worse ask reduced price it would be a fraud in my book. It seems to happen to many sellers.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice on how to negotiate with seller and ebay. I am most grateful to all.

WOW, I got to the thread a little late. I read your query Delderby. My first thought was use a search engine. But there is always someone on the Hog that will think for us. Want us to be the grass hopper. I love Sigs Art primes. They rattle also. Had a store offer to give me some cause they rattled. I used the search engine and then called manufacture. Man I never hear the Hogs call Manufactures customer service. I have NEVER had a bad experience with any call that I have made.

I Derfdog  The rattling is normal for the Lumix 14-45. It is the image stabilization that is not powered on yet.

User ID The above is the only thoughtful advice so far, and it took three whole pages to arrive here. Typical of UHH, still more knee jerk “advice” is sure to follow :-(

@Delderberry: Do you have other OIS Lumix lenses for comparison? They all make a noise such as you describe. The real question would be whether this one sounds very different or is worse than normal. Having several of these, I can describe the normal rattle as audible but not loud, and easily unsettling when one encounters for the very first time. Hope that helps.

Presumably you ordered this cuz it was a favorable deal. Don’t unravel it if there’s no actual reason.

Thanks for the lesson, Grasshopper, J. R.

Both the EX & RT models have available controllers for off camera, with multiple flashes. Really a great system solution, and at a very great price.

I believe you will find all of the 430 badged Canon flashes to be compatible with the 60 as well as the digital offering. There is the 430, 430 II & the newest version 430 III-RT.

The first two can be had used on the street at very reasonable cost. I have several that I use with my 60.

Be sure if buying used to check battery compartment to make sure batteries have not leaked. I always store with batteries removed.

Paul, I generally like you and your posts, but your repeated posting of this is asinine and irresponsible. There are many here that will actually believe it.

Well and for once we are in agreement!

Lingen I most often don't post. CHG_CANON/Paul has good advice and posts before I have even got to the thread. I hope that I can add something. I am an old guy that has shot Canon from film, Ftb days, started up with digital Xti Rebels and then 60D to FF. I still have the 60D & a T2i. Not long after i got the 60, it showed error codes (20). It was intermittent. Long story short camera stopped working, it was the shutter. New shutter and all was well. I don't know how many activations, but you could be losing your shutter. I believe 350 usd from canon. Glass, bodies I would only let Canon service work on items.

The 18-135 is a great lens, I have had several. I manly use 15-85 EFs, it is as good as any of my L series. I don't like the L series on crop. Yes I have the 24-105 f/4 L that is use on FF. I like to go deeper in WA.

If my 60 went dead i would not repair it as the repair cost is more than replacement. I don like refurbished when on sale.

For what its worth: I talked to some guys from India, they said with the climate there that Canon would not do so well but Nikon would be okay.

Thanks for that tidbit of info Jim. Perhaps climate change has effected/affected/infect, that brand.

I am somewhat confused as some Bengal Tiger shooters use Canon. Maybe the phenomenon has just overtaken the big whites!

Thanks for the link Gene. I like the hejar converted Manfrotto that i have. I did not source the conversion for price. The Arcia Swiss works great and I am delighted the orphan found a home. It stared out as a 498 Ballhead and conversion set added. I paid not more than postage on eBay. Some day are home runs.

I have some other brands, models and have the David Busch's guide book(s). They have been very useful.

You should be able to pick one up used or discounted.

Great little camera. What glass are you using? Good luck! J. R.

I hear you. I need to get an eye exam pretty soon...went to my early 50's with nothing, get a pair of readers, now I have bi-focals :( I think one of my cataracts is getting thicker now (probably got them through insulin use). I don't even want to think about having to have surgery!!!

Get the exam. Find out your options. I have had bot cataracts done and what a difference. I have an issue with the membrane over my Retina of right eye that they are working on tomorrow and be done for a week or ten days. I am glad for the option of having it done.

JR, you can vent anytime you want! I hope your surgery goes well and you’ll be back here on UHH real soon. Your eyes are vital to this form and your photography as you know. I think sometimes we take it all for granted. We should give thanks for our eyesight it’s a gift.

Thanks Brent! In the many years of image making and view I have seen men and women with disabilities, limitations and detriments to perfect images. Rather than distract, they seemed to enhanced the finial product.

So far this year I have missed Red Rock trip, Tetons with snow and Spring and many other items.

I shall be starting over with skill set! But looking forward to doing so.
