Thanks Ester, I do use the camera store but they don't have a very large selection when it comes to lighting equipment and they are more expensive then a lot of the American stores.

Do any of you know what might be close to the Canadian version of B+H photography store, or is B+H the best way to go for studio lighting equipment, I was thinking about the shipping and handling, thanks.

Have you tried local camera shops? If they don't have in stock what you want, they probably are willing to order for you:

http://www.sanealcamera.com/

http://robinsonscamera.ca/

Then there is Henry's out of Toronto:

Disclaimer: You need to do your own research about these camera shops, they only one I have personally dealt with, is Henry's.

Its beautiful, I have taken several shots of it, and am still wondering what it must be like to take a shot from the other side. How many times have you taken a photo of a rose, each photo is just a rose but each one is unique.

I'm curious to hear from people who take close-up, night photos of the moon. Is the appeal strictly technical - a challenge to get the perfect focus and exposure? It seems like other than different moon phases, that once you have a sharp, well exposed image, you're "done" and that your photo probably looks similar to others' results. Or do you feel that the next one could always be better, or is there a mystical or awe-inspiring aspect to the subject that keeps you coming back? Or something I haven't come close to asking here?! Thanks for your input!

My project for the day was to take something from my bathroom and try to make it as ecstatically pleasing as possible. Please don't kick me out of your forum for sending this photograph, it was a tough assignment. P.S. no it is not mine!

The one that won't fail is use a light meter, they fit in your pocket, mine can hook to your belt.

Thanks for that. I did do them things. Can only assume i was under and over exposing at wrong times. Am such an impatient person, want everything correct yesterday.

Try using a grey card, take a photo of it where you are not in the direct sun or dark shadows, use the same f stop and shuter speed and dial those in on manual, then recompose and take the shot. Remember it will only work if the lighting dosen't change, example a clould comes over the shot.

Thanks for that, think i was nearly doing that fiddling with kelvin levels and exposure plus and minus. I must try harder and be patient.

I took this photo of the moon a while back using a Canon 200mm lens with a 1.4 Canon extender giving me 280mm on a full sensor camera. Then I had to crop and crop to achieve this shot, thanks for the conversation. I think the lighting and clarity is far superior in your shots, especially the first one.

Yes, I should have said that. Sorry. I really like it. Here is another shot 4hours later. Jupiter has moved to the other side of the moon. So much fun!

I must admit that the quality of that photo along with it being a great shot is fantastic

I have only ever used a kodak brownie (my first camera)and a polaroid and that is my total experience with film so obviously for speed, results, amount, i find digital is better,
but those who took photographs will know far better than I how good film was.

I took this on Kodachrome slide and just scanned it. I think film has the edge.

I enjoy your sense of humor, I just hope you all enjoy film while it is still around, I mean I am sentimetal to the penny too, but it is definately a wasted coin in circulation

If I took a photo of two women who are in there early 20's walking down the street is that creepy, or if they where in there 50's would that be acceptable, or you just shouldn't take photos of peolple period, where is the line drawn.
