https://civildeadline.com/michigan-urges-citizens-to-participate-in-resettlement-pathway/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michigan’s Department of Labor and Economic Development (LEO) has launched a new initiative to welcome and support immigrant, refugee, and ethnic communities in the state.

The goal is to make Michigan the home of opportunity for these groups by assisting them in securing housing, enrolling their children in school, and finding employment. The LEO is encouraging everyday Michiganders to get involved in this effort and help make Michigan a more welcoming and inclusive state.

The Office of Global Michigan, a part of the LEO, is spearheading this initiative. Their mission is to foster partnerships for immigrant inclusion in workforce development and make Michigan a home of opportunity for all. Through expanded refugee resettlement pathways, everyday Michiganders can now provide refuge and support to a refugee family of their choosing. This program, known as the Welcome Corps, is a key component of the Office of Global Michigan's efforts to build a more welcoming and inclusive Michigan.

Michigan's Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer and Director of the Office of Global Michigan, Poppy Hernandez, shares that the goal is to make Michigan the home of opportunity for immigrant, refugee, and ethnic communities. She believes that with the expanded refugee resettlement pathways, everyday Michiganders can play a critical role in supporting the state's growing refugee population and making Michigan a more welcoming place for all.

One of the pathways available for private sponsorship is sponsoring refugees of Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, or Venezuelan nationality who had a Form I-134 or I-134A already filed on their behalf by September 30th, 2023. Sponsors are expected to provide support for the first 90 days of a refugee's arrival in Michigan. This program presents an opportunity for individuals and families to make a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of refugees seeking a new start in Michigan.

Global Michigan highlights the significant contributions of the foreign-born population to Michigan's economy, political landscape, and social fabric. According to their data, immigrant households have an annual spending power of $18 billion, and approximately 15% of business owners in Southeast Michigan are immigrants. These statistics demonstrate the valuable role immigrants play in driving economic growth and diversity in the state.

The Office of Global Michigan is also actively involved in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the state. They collaborate with Michigan's Equity and Inclusion Officers to ensure that policies and initiatives are inclusive. By working together, they aim to create a more equitable and welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds in Michigan.

The expansion of refugee resettlement pathways aligns with Michigan's commitment to diversity and inclusion. This initiative is an example of how government agencies and everyday citizens can come together to create a more welcoming environment for immigrant and refugee communities. By opening its doors to refugees, Michigan has demonstrated its values of compassion and humanity, making it an attractive destination for individuals and families seeking a new home.

The global refugee crisis has been a pressing issue in recent years, and with the expansion of the resettlement program in Michigan, the state is taking a proactive approach to addressing it.

This initiative presents an opportunity for Michiganders to make a direct and sustainable impact on the lives of refugees, helping them to integrate into a new community and rebuild their lives. As more people and families call Michigan home, the state will only become stronger and more diverse.

Biden has restored the tradition of a capable team running the White House, a tradition trampled Trump's deeply flawed scheme to run a one man show.
Like Ronald Reagan, Lyndon Johnson and Franklin Roosevelt, Biden's deft management has made him, arguably the most productive president since LBJ in the early months of his administration. As they say, he has forgotten more than his presumed Republican rival will ever know.

First, No one has elected you to office. You can set your house on fire to kill a bug and the rest of the nation won't ever hear of it or care. You don't have access to the nuclear codes to launch missiles, you don't have the authority to deploy strike forces, or any of the other powers of office.

Biden recalls talking to dead heads of state in the past weeks, even though they have been dead for a decade or more. Seems to me that meeting with heads of state is a big part of his job and if he is not up to the task he needs to be removed from office pronto.

Or don't give the nuclear codes to an “elderly man with a poor memory”.....aka Joe Biden.

Honestly, no matter who you are for or not, Biden should be removed from office immediately. You can hate on Trump or Republicans/Conservative in general all day long. That's your prerogative. What we as a nation cannot tolerate is having a POTUS not in full possession of their faculties. He must step down at once.

I don't think so. It's just that Biden's remaining neuron takes a while to fire with a result that makes sense. The man has dementia and isn't fit to be the dogcatcher's assistant much less POTUS.

That Time Joe Biden Lied About His Academic Credentials

The presidential candidate bragged about graduating in the top half of his class at law school. He was 76th in a class of 85. 89% of his class scored better than he did.

A commenter at the wonderful blog Lawyers, Guns, and Money dug up this C-SPAN video of Joe Biden lying about his academic credentials in 1987.
see link for video.

He later apologized for misrepresenting his record. Here’s the New York Times report published soon after the incident.

In his statement today, Mr. Biden, who attended the Syracuse College of Law and graduated 76th in a class of 85, acknowledged: “I did not graduate in the top half of my class at law school and my recollection of this was inacurate.”

As for receiving three degrees, Mr. Biden said: “I graduated from the University of Delaware with a double major in history and political science. My reference to degrees at the Claremont event was intended to refer to these majors – I said ‘three’ and should have said ‘two.'” Mr. Biden received a single B.A. in history and political science.

”With regard to my being the outstanding student in the political science department,” the statement went on. “My name was put up for that award by David Ingersoll, who is still at the University of Delaware.”

In the Sunday interview, Mr. Biden said of his claim that he went to school on full academic scholarship: ”My recollection is – and I’d have to confirm this – but I don’t recall paying any money to go to law school.” Newsweek said Mr. Biden had gone to Syracuse ”on half scholarship based on financial need.”

In his statement today, Mr. Biden did not directly dispute this, but said he received a scholarship from the Syracuse University College of Law “based in part on academics” as well as a grant from the Higher Education Scholarship Fund of the state of Delaware. He said the law school “arranged for my first year’s room and board by placing me as an assitant resident adviser in the undergraduate school.”

As for the moot court competition, Mr. Biden said he had won such a competition, with a partner, in Kingston, Ontario, on Dec. 12, 1967.

You should read the whole thing.

There is also a very weird part of the video where Biden seems to say that Martin Luther King, Jr. and the women’s suffrage movement lacked policy ideas.

“When we got involved in the Civil Rights Movement, Frank, nobody asked Martin Luther King what his legislative agenda was. He marched to change attitudes. When the women’s movement started, it did not move with a constitutional amendment. They marched to change attitudes.”

MLK definitely did have legislative goals! And he was asked about them a lot! Gave a lot of speeches about them! And the women’s suffrage movement was responsible for two constitutional amendments.

How do you get hot water in the Netherlands or wherever you are from?

The reason I ask is because I was working on a project a few years back on improved piping for hot water pipes in Europe. To be honest, I was shocked that these pipes were to distribute hot water to homes from a central utility. The amount of heat loss must be staggering.

Here in the states the hot water is heated within the residential building and has a short path to get to point of use.

Well said and 100% true. My only quibble is Biden is, Biden was too old and mentally incompetent BEFORE he was elected. That is the main reason he spent so much time in the basement on lockdown before the election. His incompetence is not just now showing its ugly head. It has been there for years. The Left tried to hide it, tried to make it seem inconsequential. But everybody saw it.

Yes, Biden was obviously senile or close to it in his basement bunker days.

Now of course he gets a pass on the Top Secret docs he kept in his garage. Of course he got those docs well before he ran for president which means he can't use executive privilege to escape prosecution. Yet somehow he has. Where is the Justice in that?

https://www.bostonherald.com/2024/02/09/battenfeld-after-damning-doj-report-time-for-excuses-for-joe-biden-is-over/

After damning DOJ report, time for excuses for Joe Biden is over .

Democrats now have a serious problem – a candidate who’s too old and mentally incompetent to be tried, asking voters to decide he’s competent enough to remain president.

It’s the crucial question voters are going to have to answer in the coming months following the devastating Department of Justice special counsel report raising questions about Joe Biden’s age and mental fitness.

One thing is clear: the time for excuses for Biden is over — no matter how often Rachel Maddow says Biden is fine because he can ride a bike.

Even the liberal New York Times calls the DOJ report a “political disaster.”

The only reason special counsel Robert Hur didn’t recommend trying Biden for keeping classified documents is because they didn’t feel they could get a conviction based on his age, mental fitness and hazy memory.

“It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him – by then a former president well into his 80s – of a serious felony that requires a mental state of wellness,” Hur wrote.

Hur described Biden as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory” who had “diminished faculties in advancing age.”

Now that’s a bumper sticker.

An angry Biden couldn’t even get through a three-minute press conference designed to make him look competent without making a major mistake – confusing the presidents of Mexico and Egypt.

In fundraisers this week, Biden twice claimed he spoke with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl in 2021. Kohl died in 2017.

In the wake of the DOJ report, some Republicans said they would demand the Cabinet invoke the 25th amendment, which provides for the removal of a president who is incapacitated. That movement could gain steam in the coming weeks.

U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland that she has “grave concerns” about the Hur report and asked him to immediately revoke Biden’s presidency.

At the very least, the report has given Donald Trump a major boost and Democrats will begin to openly speculate about replacing Biden in the primaries with another Democrat.

Peppered with questions on Thursday about why he won’t step aside this election, Biden insisted, “Because I’m the most qualified person in this country to be president of the United States and finish the job I started.”

Sure, that’s why Biden refuses to even do a friendly Super Bowl interview for fear of making yet another glaring mistake.

Debates are now out of the question. Democrats will never expose the 81-year-old Biden to that rigorous test.

The president’s job approval rating will now plummet even lower if that’s possible. He’s at 37% and is going to be pushing for an all-time low.

Biden is unlikely to make it past the convention. His gaffes and missteps are becoming more and more noticeable and it’s only going to get worse leading up to the election.

Democrats are in full panic mode except for true believers like Maddow.

The Democratic Party will have to figure out how to rally around Vice President Kamala Harris.

If they go to the convention and try to displace her, it will get ugly and divisive.

I was out shoveling snow yesterday! Then again, it's Winter and it's not entirely unusual for us to get some snow now and again.

Yesterday it was about 4-5 inches.Same time of year in 1978 it was around 40 inches, but the was a once in a lifetime sort of storm (Winter Hurricane) where it snowed 3 solid days.

I have every expectation that as we move into March and April the temperature will rise correspondingly.

As i pointed out somewhere in these chicken little posts, it's warming when your northern pine trees turn brown and die but you can grow palm trees instead.

I haven't sensed any real cold temps in winter for at least 20 years. I went out in my sweater today with 15 degrees celcius outside, normally around minus. I've sensed an awful lot of wind and rain last winters due to warmer ocean and sea. I also felt a really long dry period in the summers. I'll be heading to Southern Germany soon where the current temperature in a wintersport area is 24 degrees celcius. This is the right temperature for july and august. I've seen glaciers disappearing, land being flooded, villages disappeared by enormous landslides. Permafrost is disappearing, rivers cannot be sailed in summer because of low water levels. Rivers are flooding in winter because of heavy rain that normally falls as snow. Storm barriers have to be shut more often because of extreme high tide and severe storms. Dikes are giving in, letting water through underneath because of water pressure. Sweet water inlets have to be moved landinwards in order to prevent taking in salt water. It is so obvious..
