World wide communications for air traffic control has to be in English. Perhaps we should have a similar rule for posts to the Hog!

About a year ago I bought a Sony NEX 5N from Cluchfield Electronics. At least they told me it was a 5N.
In the last month I bought an electronic view finder for my 5N from B & H. When I got the viewfinder I found out that it would not fit my Sony NEX camera.
B&H spent a long time on the phone with me to try to resolve the problem. We found out that the camera Cluchfield sold me as 5N was really a NEX 5 which has a different electronic accessary connector to the 5N model.
B & H took the viewfinder back and returned my money.
Bottom line: B & H are excellent dealers....Clutchfield not so good.

Here is an easy guide to keeping political news in perspective:
1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.
2. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.
3. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country, and who are very good at crossword puzzles.
4. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don't really understand The New York Times. They do, however, like their statistics shown in pie charts.
5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn't mind running the country, if they could find the time, and if they didn't have to leave southern California to do it.
6. The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country and did a poor job of it, thank you very much.
7. The New York Daily News is read by people who aren't too sure who's running the country and don't really care as long as they can get a seat on the train.
8. The New York Post is read by people who don't care who is running the country as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated.
9. The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country, but need the baseball scores.
10. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren't sure if there is a country or that anyone is running it; but if so, they oppose all that they stand for. There are occasional exceptions if the leaders are handicapped, minority, feminist, atheist dwarfs who also happen to be illegal aliens from any other country or galaxy, provided of course, that they are not Republicans.
11. The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the grocery store.
12. The Tampa Tribune is read by people who have recently caught a fish and need something to wrap it in.  The same thing applies to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

hey,Pjarmit. That's really something. What position were you?I would think the original crew briefing would be worth quite a lot of money.

I was Flight Engineer, flew right hand cockpit seat. Just one pilot as in WWII. We were allowed to fly the Lincoln, but only above 3000 ft. Did a lot of simulator landing training though. Since the right hand contol stick was usually stowed to allow access to the bomb aimer position. My
skipper let me fly from his seat while he went aft for a smoke and visit with the gunners!
Over 300 hours with 617 Lincoln II aircraft.
The crew flight breifing is a copy...interesting but there were probably a lot of them circulated.

As an old 617 Squadron crew member(1951-52) I have had a long and continuing interest in the dams raid.
I have a DVD copy of the original Dam Busters movie which was recut to get better digitization.
Also I have a copy of the original crew briefing for the mission, marked "Top Secret"

A man walking on a Sydney beach was deep in prayer. Suddenly he spoke saying "Lord grant me one wish". The sky clouded, a booming voice of the Lord replied "Because you have been faithful to me in every way, I will grant you one wish".

The man said "Build a bridge to Lord Howe Island, so I can drive over anytime I need to."

The Lord said "Your request is very materialistic and difficult, think of the logistics of such a project, the supports for such a bridge would have to reach the bottom of the Pacific! Imagine the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Think again and make a wish to honor and glorify me."

The man thought about it for a long time. Finally he said "Lord, have been married and divorced four times, all of my wives said that I am uncaring and insensitive. I wish that I could understand women, I want to know how they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment, why they cry when they say "Nothing" and how I can make a woman truly happy."

There was a meaningful silence, a significant pause then the Lord said "Do you want two lanes or four on that bridge?"

Great shots and memories.
I flew with 617 Squadron at RAF Binbrook in 1951-52. 300 hours on Avro Lincoln II's. (Stretched Lancaster)
Nothing like the sound of four Merlin engines, especially if you are in the plane!

As I mentioned in my "Where Edsel's go to Die" post.
I was a judge of pre and early post war Rolls-Royce and Bentleys at the annual Keels and Wheels show last weekend (my 4th year as a judge) In the past I used to exibit my classic restorations...but now phasing out of that at age 84!
Here are some shots I took after judging using my Sony NEX-5 and a new telli lens......too much for the close in space!
Have about 100 shots if anyone interested in seeing more!

On my way to a friend's Babecue party yesterday I let my GPS take me on a less direct route. I came across these two rusty Edsels sitting in the grass by a construction company.
This morning I went back to take photos for the interest of the car people in the group.
Used my Sony NEX5 with a new 55-210 lens that I wanted to try out. Comments welcome.
By complete contrast last weekend I was a judge of Pre and Early Post War Rolls-Royce and Bentleys at one of the best car shows in the US. Quite a contrast!
I will post a couple of "Real motor car" photos next.
