All three are great for different reasons. I hate when I'm so indecisive, which is most of the time.

I was inspired to post this image by an earlier post in this section. Got this while cruising Prince William Sound, on the way to Whittier, Alaska from Valdez. I had been tracking cloud formations and watching the sun casting shadows on the water; similar shots in color show interesting purple/violet colors on the water which I presume were the result of sunlight passing through the clouds??? Sorry but the full color shots are well over 30mb each. I was impressed by the way the Nikon Z 8 captured the subtle colors.

Nice image, clouds do help to create a dramatic scene. Without seeing a color version I would still have to say the B&W would be the winner.

I just recently converted to B&W, taken on the dirt street of Tombstone, Arizona. I change the background to black added some fog with some gaussian blur and reduced the opacity for a soft touch appeal. Thoughts and feedback welcome.

Great still life πŸ”ŸπŸŽ―πŸ”ŸπŸŽ―πŸ”Ÿ Reminds me of waaaay back when my cousin used to be an ophthalmic prosthetics technician. He hand-made artificial eyes. If you ever wanted to get really zany and could get your hands on a couple artificial orbs, I'd bet it would gross people out to have this same shot with a fake eye set up behind each lens (No charge for the great idea)

Oh wow Joe, excellent idea. I have to agree and can envision this concept and would love to see his version. I hope Dave takes you up on your idea.

Excellent work, Dave, in concept and execution! I wouldn’t call it a simple composite - every individual component fits seamlessly.

Stan

Thank you very much Stan. Yeah, I suppose it shouldn't be called 'simple', it's just some composites come easier than others. I do appreciate your thoughts.

Yes! I love it. The oversized hat really made me smile.
Erich

Thanks Erich. That hat did make the picture. Which makes it obvious to why the picture was taken. Glad it put a smile on you.

Love this picture! And I do think B&W is the way to go on this one. First, because the focus is on the face and not the color of the background image, and second, there seems to be a lot of noise in the picture which is less distracting in the b&w than in the color version.

Thank you for commenting. Yes, there was and is some noise and while I did not try to fight much to make a correction, I just dealt with it as best I could. I knew better when the image was taken, but I ignored the fact of the final outcome of the original.

The setting for this is a small inter-room lobby in a local museum. The ladies have all appeared here previously in my composites, although not necessarily in these poses. The Turkish brazier is a bit of my junk. All images are mine.
Odalisques, or ladies of the harem, have always been a popular subject with Orientalist artists. Your critique is welcome.

How did I miss this one? A visit to Δ°stanbul in the early 70's with a long uphill walk to a place called the compound is what comes to mind with this composite, Dave. https://macbuddha01.wordpress.com/2010/12/11/the-compound/ Alto, I did not partake in any activity with my visit, I do remember it well and absolutely no photos were allowed to be taken. Your composite is well done and a reminder of days gone past.

Flowers and textures can be a challenge. This one reminds me of a pillowcase that would work perfectly on someone's sofa. Nice creative experimentation Linda.
